I have an alarm that starts off quietly then gets a bit louder to wake me up, I use this song and am awake before 1st bar finishes, but stay there a while anyway.

This week has been "Best of Elvis Costello".
Not a bad song on it.

    well

The wife sets her alarm to public radio at 6am. It's a mix of fund raisers and epic modern symphony orchestra stuff. Nothing gentle.

Whatever show happens to be on WFDU FM from Teaneck N.J.. They do a great job of covering all the musical bases.

Classical music on the Canadian CBC FM French radio station. Usually nice and gentle. I like that...

I often wake up, see the lost sessions of mike bloomfield vinyl sitting ready on the table, set it for a spin, and start putting my clothes on. Good feel.

I live next to a Marine air base, so I get to "enjoy" the sound of the not-occasional-but-quite-frequent Osprey (a very noisy VTOL plane/copter combo type of aircraft) . . . thankfully though not in the morning, usually. Mostly at night, while I am watching TV, so it drowns out scenes, punchlines, etc. as the house shakes from the vibrations.

For morning entertainment, I get to hear the practice at the rifle range most every day. Starts at 7am on the dot. Pow pow, paw pow pow . . . . Usually wakes me up in advance of the iTunes alarm clock.

I just saw this. I'm sorry for your loss, ADinNYC. A loss leaves a big hole for a while. I hope you can remember the good times with your cat while you heal. Time really does heal. Take care!

I lived the above song. My old neighbor used to get up on Sat & Sun morning and clean. He'd use a leaf blower to clean the patio. Then he'd was his car, and BLOW DRY the car with that frackin' leaf blower. He'd run that thing on & off for the better part of two hours. He finally moved, and good riddance.
