We have extremely awful food choices...yet we still choose the stuff loaded with sugar and salt...and what covers more of the platter (not plate). Sedentary lifestyles and farmers appetites.

The NGD threads over on gretsch talk are dumb.

They start the thread a week before they order, the thread goes for like 13 pages before the guitar arrives, the OP will forget to update the with actual photos, a week goes by and OP chimes in that they returned the guitar....

Seriously...NGD. threads are for AFTER the guitar shows up and you've played the dang thing in my book.

When my brother was dying of brain cancer he swelled up to gigantic proportions because of the steroids prescribed. Funny stuff.

It is a fact of life that other people will say things and respond to questions everywhere, and especially in discussion forums; in ways that we might not like. Don’t let them live rent free in your head. Unfortunately, many of us like to harbor resentment rather than let it go.

That "choice" is the big one for us in the west, particularly in the US. I encourage people to consider watching "Fed Up" or read a little on the subject.

For the record, I'm 5'10" at 165lbs, I've been 40lbs heavier briefly and pulled my weight back. Luckily genetics agree with me and I don't have to feed a family on minimum wage. Things change a bit when either of those go the other way.

A little compassion for others has worked well for me. I've got numerous problems, luckily I don't have to wear them on the outside for less kind people to see and judge.

When someone chimes in telling another member not to get all butt-hurt. Poor choice of words?

Also, long winded critiques of the gear industry in general.

Oh yeah, I battle the waist and when healthy am about the same. However, for myself, I know that I'm the only one to blame for being chubby.

I think that is the most important thing for this and many other issues:
throw out the victim mentality and replace it with a sense of self-responsibility
and yes obviously there are situations where this doesn't fully apply

1). I find it an annoying waste of time when someone goes completely off topic from the OP's original post. Make your own post if you want to discuss another topic!

2). The OP post about an infamous guitar player and someone replies with insults about that particular player, more often than not because of their actual or perceived political beliefs. Just as we are required to "treat everyone here with respect, no matter how difficult!" and "No...political.. or hate discussion permitted here." We should do the same for all guitar players(whether known members here or not), guitar designers, makers, dealers, etc. The love of music and the guitar should supercede everything else. Keep your political beliefs and your hatred for people who do not share your beliefs to your self or use another appropriate forum. We are all guitar players and music lovers here, so let's remain united under these shared beliefs.

I often wonder how there can be multiple recommendations for which overdrive pedal the OP should buy when the OP has not specified what amp or guitar they use or generally what style of music they play.

They could be playing the Bach lute suites on a semi acoustic 12 string baritone directly through a PA speaker for all you know!
