Great pick, that one always springs to mind when I think of one-hitters!96 tears..?and the Mysterians.
Gloria Jones was in the car wreck that killed Marc Bolan. Not sure why I’m mentioning that other than to shoehorn T Rex into the conversation.I still prefer the Gloria Jones original, another one hit wonder too.

Tainted Love ~ Soft Cell
The Broken Peach version is my favorite - It's a good song.
April Wine beat them to the concept by 9 years. Pretty power pop itself.
Down, south of the border, here in Minnesota, AW was popular on album oriented rock radio...considered classic rock now...In Canuckistan they were pretty big and had lots of legitimate hits. At least one, but probably two, greatest hits records. Outside Canada? Dunno.
Cheers,
Geoff

Exactly!I loved this song, reminds me of 1st year in College- so young then
Always thought it could have been a Hall & Oates hit
My post wasn't so much about April Wine being a one-hit wonder as it was pointing out they beat the other band to the title by 9 years. Plus, I was going back and forth between this and the power pop thread, and I was thinking that was getting posted there. In Canuckistan they were pretty big and had lots of legitimate hits. At least one, but probably two, greatest hits records. Outside Canada? Dunno.

Howie Mandel look a like winner.
