Prince @ RRHOF, playing an over the top solo in While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
This still sends chills down my spine every time. Steve Rothery is criminally ignored by so many in the US.
Nels Cline in Wilco's Impossible Germany.
Oh Hey.... anyone know who did the guitar solo work in Sheryl Crow's Crash and Burn from Globe Sessions. thought it was a studio guy, but can't find it.
Me too, I love the whole soundtrack, great bunch of musicians, especially Michael Brecker (tenor sax)-another great, gone too soon. The movie is terrific too. Thanks for the reminder I'm going to crank it up right now.
I think one of the reasons I like the song so much (which closes the film) is because I can't separate the music from the film experience. Local Hero is such a "perfect" work of art in and of itself. I wish Bill Forsyth would start writing and directing again.....the film world needs him. And obviously, I wish he'd use Mark Knopfler on any soundtracks.
One of my faves is the version of "Let it Be" ( the non- Leslie one), where George just goes for it!, with the Les Paul
Here we go!
My guess is Tim Pierce. Emphasis on guess.
Edit: Scratch that - wiki credits Val McCallum
Honeyman on 'Kid.'
Gilmour on 'On An Island.' (Bonus Snowy White content in this live version.)
Dire Straights- Brothers in Arms is one. The song gives me chills every time.
But there are SO MANY.
Got nine minutes to spare?
IMO it just doesn't get any more emotive than this. I still cry when I hear it.
This was the last song on the last album that Stevie recorded just a few months before he died. What a way to go out...
Every solo Adrian Belew played during his time with Talking Heads.
There are songs from Frank Zappa I like a lot, but I was never much into his guitarplaying. With the exception of "Watermelon In Easter Hay", probably one of the simpliest, but most emotionally moving songs he ever did.
Two emotive guitar solos, in no particular order.
Solo starts at 3:12
Another one for Elvin Bishop’s Fooled Around and Fell in Love. Listening to it right now!
