Maria’s Theme - off “The Savage Seven” movie soundtrack.

Wait a second… my bad. That was Barbara Kelly and The Morning Good. That’s a common mistake. They sound and dressed so much alike!

Should I stay and Rock the Casbah are the only ones I know. And I still like them a lot!

I do recall a lot of people saying that they took themselves too seriously. I have no opinion on that.

Tommy Gun. That was my guitar sound (I still use it), and the foundation for a lot of my playing.
I have a lot of favs off the first 3 albums though. Not really a fan of the hits.

Favorite Clash song, eh? Boy, that's a tough one.I'd have to put "Complete Control" amongst my favorites, too but I'll have to cheat on this and choose my favorite song on each of their albums (I'll skip "Cut The Crap"):

1. The Clash (U.K. LP) = "Janie Jones"
2. The Clash (U.S. LP) = "(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais"
3. Give 'Em Enough Rope = "Stay Free"
4. London Calling = "Death Or Glory" (with "Spanish Bombs" a very close second, but damn, the entire album is great)
5. Sandinista! = "Corner Soul"
6. Combat Rock = "Straight To Hell"

To cheat even further, some non-album tracks favorites:

1. "Jail Guitar Doors" B-Side to "Clash City Rockers"
2. "Gates Of The West" Cost Of Living E.P. Track (Mick Jones at his best!)
3. "Groovy Times" Cost Of Living E.P. Track
4. "The Prisoner" B-Side to ""(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais"
This is a pretty good list. I would only differ on Sandinista where it would have to be Charlie Don't Surf or Somebody Got Murdered for me.

I won't ignore Cut the Crap either. "This is England".

And finally, the best Clash song (a Strummer-Jones composition) that wasn't released as a Clash song and instead by Big Audio Dynamite is "Beyond the Pale".

People allways say that London Calling is their best record, but as a punk fan, their first was my favorite. This song is just so epic and I love everything about it, especially the leads.

Lost in the Supermarket.

Love the atmosphere, arrangements and the bleak lyrics.
... even if the chorus repeats do go on a bit.

Also... feels like this song could be the NPC national anthem.

In my tube amp coccoon.

I never realized there was a shortened version of that great song. I wonder if it was edited just for brevity, or to remove the provocative lyrics in the final verse ("If Adolph Hitler flew in today, they'd send a limousine anyway..."). Right after that line, at about 3:11 in the album version of the song, the bass and drums together have a killer moment. I don't know what's my favorite Clash song, but that's my favorite moment in a Clash song.

This one, the lyrics ring true about murder as they did back in the day, probably more so now.
