Most of my current listening is off a thumb drive in the car. I find that I skip most of the songs, though. I like them, but I've heard them so often that hearing the intro has my mind fast forward through the song and I didn't have to sit through the whole thing. Mostly 50's through 80's stuff, all vocal. Instrumentals don't do it for me in the car -- those are for home when I'm doing things.

Had to add Weird Al's first album because the boy likes him. And he'll find a way to kill me in my sleep if I remove Hot Rod Lincoln from the list.

I enjoyed killing some time last night watching some you tube videos of some of my favorites, but leaning heavily on the Small Faces and the Knack.

Gimme Some Lovin' - Spencer Davis Group
All or Nothing - Small Faces
Talk to You - Small Faces
Sha La La La Lee - Small Faces
Stay With Me - The Faces
One Day at a Time - The Knack
Can I Borrow A Kiss - The Knack
The Hardway - The Knack (KinKs cover)

There were quite a few others, but it was just enjoyable to sit back and watch and listen.

I don’t always have to listen. I guess it’s been 3 or more weeks of quiet, or just playing some scales or improvising on them on a guitar or finding the notes of a melody in my head; interspersed with trying a different tube or speaker in an old tube amp to compare.

When I do it’s not a fixed list, I thumb through a physical or electronic library. It is sometimes deep Classic Rock, maybe some Ennio Morricone soundtrack I don’t remember if I’ve ever played, maybe some Ry Cooder, some early George Benson, or some crusty old ‘50s through early ‘70s country. I like the road less traveled, makes all the difference.

Not the stuff you listen to for the purpose of learning the songs- rather what type of material comprises the list you keep on shuffle mode for driving in the car, listening around the house, taking a shower, etc?

For me it's always music I've not heard before, whether it's old albums that I'd somehow missed by favorite groups, newly-discovered bands from decades back, or up-and-comers...it's important to me to keep the fresh-discovery quotient of my music listening rolling, so I am constantly creating playlists of that and rarely listen to tunes that are old favorites...

My current playlist at this time includes newly-discovered bands Starcrawler, Muffs, Damone, Whale, the "lost" album by The Smithereens, a bunch of (relatively) recently -released Prince stuff from "The Vault", the most recent Billy Idol material, Soul Asylum who somehow I'd never listened to until recently, The most recent album from The Cult (which has been growing on me in it's dark brooding cinematographic beauty)

Whatcha been listening to?
Maybe more to the point- what is your intention with that playlist?
Miles Davis lately , the talent on these album s is so inspiring to me.

Miles Davis - Agharta (1976) (Full Album)

Miles Davis - Pangaea (1976) (Full Album)

Miles Davis - A Tribute to Jack Johnson

Miles Davis - On The Corner (1972)

The other day I found an old Tori Amos CD that I thought I lost 20 years ago. It's in the car and I'm enjoying the heck out of it. Also have Polyphia, progressive instrumental metal. First "new" thing for me in a while.

My current playlist varies daily.

The Willy DeVille, Horse of a Different Color CD arrived in the mail today.

It was produced by Jim Dickinson in 1999 at Ardent Studios, in Memphis. Jim’s sons Luther and Cody are playing on it. So I had a listen to that.

Then that led me to check out the two latest albums by the North Mississippi Allstars.

Music doesn't get old for me; having an almost nonexistent memory for it helps some with that. My play list now, as always, is pretty much my entire (rather extensive) collection.

I've had this song on repeat for 6 days now. about an hour each way to work and home. I am getting to where I know it. another week, it will be part of my soul.

I never listened to any pre-Budokan Cheap Trick when growing up. This album was recorded at The Whiskey in 1977. A perfect portrait of a hungry band with nothing to lose. I never knew Rick Nielson was such a killer axeman! And the rhythm section of Tom Petersson and Bun E. Carlos just pops out the speakers. I can't get enough of this album.

More on the retro-live recording front, I've also been quite taken by Tom Petty's live at the Filmore recording. Standout tracks are definitely the epic treatment of It's Good To Be King and You Wreck Me just crushes.

I usually choose a random playlist on Spotify, of the contemporary pop and indie genre.

I do this when I am writing journals at my office, and more often than not I discover something new, which I then 'like' to easily find it again later.

At home, I tend to pick one of my latest discoveries (the last one is Gundelach, a norwegian indie/electronica artist - who does a beautiful version of "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" btw)

Make mine P-Funk! I just made a playlist yesterday called "Funk You Up". It's to give us energy.

Bootsified madness with acceptable contributions from Billy Preston, Sly, the Meters, and others of that ilk. Maybe some Peter Tosh if I want something more sophisticated. ;)

Rotating a bunch of albums lately. Here's a list with a sample from each

Ethel Cain - Preacher's Daughter, my best album of 2022, she's right on the edge of blowing up

Lizzy McAlpine - 5 Seconds Flat, 2nd best of 2022, she'll be opening for John Mayer on some of his acoustic tour dates

FYI, those are both way outside of the usual "rock" I listen to, but are also the two I listened to the most in the last 6 months.

Horsegirl - Versions of Modern Performance

Hello Mary - anxiously awaiting the album due in March while listening to the Ginger EP and the singles they have out

Momma - Household Name

All of the above are very much a modern 90s alternative vibe. Breeders, Veruca Salt, Sonic Youth, Pixies, etc.

I don’t have any playlists. I just listen to the 2000 or so songs on iTunes on shuffle. Things come up I’ve not yet heard occasionally.
