Two days after I was born, Elvis purchased Graceland for $100K.

Chevrolet was selling what would probably become the best known, best loved car of all time.

    Martin Denny released "Exotica"

    And...

I read an interesting story not long ago about a person who remembered when their TOWN got their first TV ever. It was on display in the front window of the appliance store, and was left on all day and all night for advertisement. If you wanted one, you placed an order to get it... and they were very expensive - like buying a new car might be today. People would drive up to the store's front, park their car, and watch the TV. It was such a marvel and novel thing that people simply couldn't believe it, and would sit and watch that TV in the front store window all night long via the parking lot! Kinda interesting to consider ;)

You too? Where are all these old people coming from?

    In my birth year:
Pres. Truman announced the US had developed a hydrogen bomb.
The film Peter Pan was premiered by Disney.
The DNA molecule discovery was announced.
    Joseph Stalin died.
    Polio vaccine was discovered.
Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were executed.
Queen Elizabeth II was crowned queen of the United Kingdom.
The first issue of Playboy was published.
It was the year 5713-5714 in the Hebrew calendar.

    This car was released:

I had the opportunity to become a billionaire by patenting dirt or air, but I didn't seize the chance.

I spent a few years telling folks I was born on exactly the same day as movie star Geena Davis. I think she played Thelma....but she might have been Louise.

Turns out, she's precisely twelve months older than me.....Duh!

She seems to have weathered better than I have. :)

Interesting. My uncle was ashore with the British First Army in February of 1943. He was a gunner with the 166th Newfoundland Field Artillery Regiment.
