When anger is directed towards 'money grabbing' enterprise, it is for a reason other than having money.

The ones with money are just big enough that everyone can see them and become a target for a reason (real or imaged) that benefits someone else.

Hey! Company X is putting all the mom and pop stores on main street out of business.
Company Y is suppressing information from being freely distributed.
Company Z is selling my personal information!
And this one isn't operating fairly in the marketplace.

Those people are buying stuff, fundamentally engaged in that act.

Thus, they aren't rolling their eyes at the concept of purchasing a product (having a money making enterprise) which as I understand it is the premise of this thread.

People are rolling their eyes because they judge their fellow citizens for falling for gimmicks and for those who pimp the gimmicks. It's a value judgement, not a critique of earning income.

Just like my Grandma told me when I was 10 years old and HAD to have "air pockets" in my new sneakers...it's a gimmick.

Stones tickets last year 200 bucks for nosebleed seats. Well go for it. I would buy all their cd s I don’t have which I think would be a better value.

Please don't think I spend every waking hour complaining about what sports stars earn.....but I AM somewhat concerned about a society that places such an emphasis on sports over medical research or charity or even education. It's the general priorities that I find "discouraging". Too many endeavors fall into the category of, "Just because you CAN do it doesn't mean you SHOULD do it." :):):)

I've never considered that line of work, but I totally embraced the enterprise whereby you could choose to pay to use a clean toilet. Enterprise to the rescue!

Like we're going to figure this out, here on the TDPRI?

The "how the money is made" a complicated mess and I don't see anyway to discuss it without wandering into the tundra of don't wander there on this forum.

    yeah, no.

True, but sports stars are usually somewhat paid what they're worth to the bidder, 'cept the ones who fell off a cliff after signing the line. Even worse, they have to bust their ass and answer to the public, and literally be better at their discipline than the other person. The real world is a bit more complex than that.

Start a youtube channel, headline your titles with "What's wrong with making money!!" and watch the views roll in en masse...you're missing out!

Did you ever consider no matter how much research they put into it, none of the researchers are ever going to be able to drive par fours in a single shot like Dustin Johnson can?:lol::lol::lol:

I mean, if not for the rest of you in our western society all that BS I'd be able to sell my daughter off like they do in other parts of the world. She'll be a catch, 6 figure minimum and I raised her to be that!

Shouldn't I get something in return??? It's a lot of hard work and we all need to do what we do to make a buck y'know.

Plus, the highest bidder will obviously have the dough to take care of her thus it's a perfect system, in the end she'll get what she's worth...that's fair.

Yup, I have no sympathy for stupid consumers forking out big bucks for little in return. They are taken advantage of in many ways. Our worldwide banking system is the classic example.

It is difficult to watch the less educated being taken advantage of though.

So @Toto'sDad , how much does it cost in Bakersfield to hit a little white orb into gopher holes these days? Asking for a friend.

Enough that I could have bought a Merle Haggard Tuff Dog (the USA model) on just the money I've spent in the last three years on Golf. To tell you the truth though, I would rather have the golfing experiences, I already got a Tele! :D:D:D

If people paying to see the movie or concert are satisfied with the product/service they received, then great! If not, they probably knew that gamble going into it. As long as a product or service is being traded for money at a fair market value, let the guys willing to put on the show make some money. It's known as a free market system...
