I'm just looking through the photos I took at the Gilmour showing yesterday and I took a closer look at this Ric.

Note the frets. Is this some kind of micro-tonal fretboard? I'm stumped, help me out here.

Interesting. Do you have a higher resolution file (in the camera maybe) so you could zoom in on the description card?

I checked the description card - they estimate between $100K and $150K, although I suspect it'll probably go for more.

The only other guitars similarly valued were the 0001 Strat, the '54 Goldtop and a '58 Gretsch White Penguin.

I wonder if anyone knows what songs it might have been played on, so we can hear it in action.

Have you ever heard any 12-string play in key for very long?

"These days I sit on corner stones
And count the time in quarter tones to ten, my friend
Don't confront me with my failures
    I had not forgotten them"

looks to me like the quarter step frets go all the way to the sixth fret. Raga time!

Yes, if it is set up properly.
    And...this guitar is a 6 string, isn’t it?

I would like to hear what Jeff Beck would do with such a machine. I wonder what Gilmour did with it? Maybe he was trying to understand J. Beck??????

I don’t think Gilmour would have any problem at all bending any quarter-tones he needed.
I suspect he bought it because (a) he could & (b) it would be fun for noodling, not because he was going to use it for anything particular.

Scroll those the guitars he's auctioning off if you haven't already...
I'd love to get my hands on that Broadcaster of the '57 Blue Strat....

I was wondering if it had even been played! But there is a back shot in the Christies link and you can see buckle rash.

Which black Strat?? I did not take the entire 3D virtual tour, but there are 6 black Strats in one room and another in the next. I like the old Precision Bass...1952. I should have kept the one I had.

The Black Strat is the one slotted to go for a minimum of $100 to 150K. His main touring guitar.

In the room with the Black Strat, there were four Custom Shop knockoffs. Even a lefty version. They're estimated to go for between 3 and 5K.

    This is THE Black Strat.

    Here are the CS knockoffs.

And I saw 3 or 4 more black Strats in the showing, with different pickups. One with EMGs, one with Fender Noiseless pickups, and a couple of pretty much nondescript stock Strats.

Take your pick, depending on how much dough you've got. :)

Can't imagine that Ric has seen much "sitting on the couch, playing while watching TV" hours.
