My managers at work want staff to start calling people at 7:30am to remind them of appointments the following day. About 5 instructions are given to prepare them for the appointments. At a meeting this morning I thought the time was too early but my boss scoffed and a staff member blurted out they start calling at 7:30am. They thought it was fine. Others in the room, mostly sheeple, had no opinion.

    What say you?

9am. More than enough time for a reminder call of a next day appointment. Even better - send out texts.

I was an outside guy, and set my own hours, but I was always out early. When I was working on a big dirt job one day while I was still operating heavy equipment the boss pulled us together and said. "Starting time is 7:00am, you show up at 6:30am. Anyone who isn't here by 6:30am tomorrow doesn't work here anymore. He meant 7:00am was wheels turning, not getting ready to go to work.

Musicians rise at the crack o' noon.

Calling before noon is just rude.

I quit a job this year where I was one of those annoying reps from a HVAC distributor that pesters contractors for quotes and such, at least 5 calls a month. We weren’t allowed to call them before 8am and had to call people up until 6pm. It stunk cause first thing in the morning they are busy and just opening up shop for the day, all day they are in an attic or on the roof, and at night they are trying to have dinner. I felt guilty calling at any time of the day but the computer force feeds you calls to make and if you don’t dial within thirty seconds it dials them automatically.

I don't want anyone calling me before 8:00 am. Anything earlier better be an emergency.

    Appointment reminder call ?

I don’t need to be reminded of an appointment if it’s my appointment .

No time is appropriate for that nuisance call.

I’ve always lived by the “If you’re not 15 minutes early - you’re late !” rule.

I guess I’d have been out of a job at your old place...:(

Not exactly sure what kind of situation this is, but anyone who isn't up and at it by 7:30 AM is a lazy slacker and doesn't deserve the consideration of any other title.
And kind of like Mike Eskimo....I was raised that you arrive at an appointment early. If you're ON TIME.....YOU'RE LATE!

    Hi

I agree that it should be a txt if at all
    possible.

Also, call me before 9am and I’ll be grumpy at you. Politely stern at the least. If I answer…

But, I also suspect calling too early means the message just gets lost. Kinda, yeah someone bothered me about something happening tomorrow, whatever, I’ll think about that later. If at all.

You'd just have to have set your clock, (internal or external) fifteen minutes earlier. He had a point. The equipment jobs we worked on were ALL bid jobs, if you're running twenty pieces of equipment, and all of them start five minutes late, well you do the math.

Don’t call me. Ever. That should solve this.

Call me before 9am and you'll need to find someone else to "fill my spot" - cause I ain't comin no more. Your managers are idiots.

I hope your customers/patients are not shy about sharing that it is an unreasonable hour to be calling.

I also hope you are not shy about sharing the managers home phone numbers with those whom you are assaulting at such an ungodly hour.

In fact, if you like, PM them to me and I'll be perfectly happy to call them at an hour I think reasonable to tell them what I think about it.

    Oh, and...
Take your appointment and shove it.

You can call my phone at 7:30 am but it will be in the other room and I won’t answer it. I will still be asleep.

I don't turn my cell on until 9 am, so there is no point in wasting your time calling prior to that. I am up at 6 and at work by 7, but phone stays off until 9 anyway.

If my doctor calls me at 7:30 am to remind me of an appointment for the next day I will find a new doctor. I’m fortunate enough to have been able to retire early in life. Well I busted my ass to be able to but regardless don’t call me at 7:30 in the morning.

oh **** off - lots of people in the service industry work until midnight or later all the time and there's no way in hell they're up at seven thirty in the morning.

Shift workers etc. See the night mayor thing. A lot of commerce happens outside the nine to five window.

And most calls I get seem to be scammers. Getting those when I’m trying to sleep is particularly galling as I have major, major, major insomnia issues. Those calls literally cause me a lot of distress and very negatively impact my quality of life. Stop ****ing calling me.

    Cheers,
    Geoff
