Hi - my 1st post - hope i do it right.
I received this guitar in attached pics in lieu of payment owed (about US$550)
Serial number is N034922 so i think that makes it a 1993 model?
    Any idea what it's worth?
    Thanks for any info.

Welcome! Not sure what it's worth but it's pretty sweet lookin' to me! And at 550 I don't think you could go wrong at that price. Does it come with a case too?

My CIJ 62 reissue custom was purchased used about 9 years ago and cost me £500. MIJ are really good guitars so the price seems fine to me.
    Best of luck.

I don't see an early 90s MiJ Tele in good shape advertised below £700-750 in the UK. So $550 is good.

    Thanks.
Nope - no it didnt come with a case.
I just want to check that it might be worth more than $550 - seen some at double the price that look similar.

Hey man....I just bought a mint used MIJ ‘52 RI, made in 2013. I paid CDN$950, or about USD$760, with no case. I thought I got it for a sweet deal, especially in these parts. I’d say you’re on to something. The quality is superb, which is what I’ve come to expect from a MIJ guitar of any make.

By that serial number, she would have been made in Japan at the Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan)
    in 1993 or early 1994.

She's a model known as THE '50s TELECASTER (MODEL NO. 027-1202).
Retailed for $599 back in the day.

Now worth, according to Fjestad's Blue Book,
    Mint Condition - $700
    Excellent Plus - $550
    Excellent - $450

I would call that one nearly Mint, so, you did very well on that deal.

    Congrats.

    :)

Model number is TL72, a reissue of the 1972 version of the standard Tele. $550 is a good price. Most of those that I see are around $700-$900.

It’s not a TL52, which is the 50s reissue. Check the logo, the pickguard, and the neck plate gasket. All indicate a 70s model, which is the TL72.

Thanks. Why are prices high? Do you mean for guitars generally or MIJ Tele's?

If you do any more work for this person, make sure you get paid in guitars!

Since the pandemic, the world and his wife seems to have been buying guitars. Low volume on the second hand market and prices have gone up, a lot ...

It seems you are right - a TL72 - so it's one of these? Are these not so good?https://reverb.com/p/fender-tl-72-telecaster-reissue-mij

    jondanger is correct here.

My estimation of the export model 027-1202 was based upon what I could find in Fjestad's Blue Book.

The TL52 was made in Japan, but not generally exported, so you don't see those much outside of Japan, and therefore unlikely to ever be listed in the Blue Book.

Since the OP is IN Japan, this makes perfect sense.

I think the price or value is still about the same as quoted earlier though.
Either way, good job by all concerned.

    ;)
