I just cannot order this phasing sound to a certain pedal. Is it UniVibe on lower settings, some weird MuTron beast or something more obvious?

sounds like a vibe or phaser; best bet if you have neither is to go to a guitar shop and try one of each then listen back to the track through headphones

I've heard a similar sound before. It's a certian setting on a Catalinbread Pareidolia - in the video at 5:50.
But I want to know what exactly Mr. Szabo used there.

given the era of the recording I would venture a mutron Biphase
it was 2 linked phasers with separate conrols played through stacato pick attacks

Cool. Why do you think it's that particular one? I mean, it's a pretty subtle sound/setting. That was kind of a phaser era, what else could have sounded like that?

At around 1:36 he steps on the switch to disengage the effect. Too bad camera doesn't follow. Biphase is a pretty large box. It could be instantly recognized.

Yeah, it could be. It's his snappy picking sound that confuses me. Hollowbody with possible thick gauge flatwounds.

I think its a phaser too, he might have a hint of tremolo added in from the amp?
Those old hollowbodies also have their own sound. Sounds like heavier strings.
    Cool jam anyway.

There is a bit of grunge to the sound. If i push my phaser too much signal it gets that dirty compression.

Sounds a lot like a Deja Vibe, but there is some soft compression on the picking that I dont recognize..

Yeah, that compression and breakup makes it so authentic. I've had DOD Phasor 201 which sounds almost identical to MXR Phase 45 but it had much more swirl than this. Never played Phase 90 though.

This tune kind of became my tune of the day. It's my 40th birthday today and this recording is from 1978. My birth year is 1979. Now I'm having some beer and whiskey and it plays on repeat.:D
