SLeepwalk - it's been covered by everyone.

Lots of Simon and Garfunkel songs but Sounds of Silence, I Am a Rock and Bookends stand out.

My personal saddest song, a relative played this one at my little sister's service.

My dad used to play this song. I had no Idea what it was about until I was was a teen.

Also from John Prine, Hello In There always makes me blurry-eyed

I thought I might find this one in here!

There isn't any ONE sad song, since ALL bluegrass songs are sad. It ain't a bluegrass song unless the girl dies before the end of the song.

For me it would be hard to beat John Prine's 'Sam Stone'.

Maybe this will make it a little better. As funny as the idea is, Sad Kermit still kind of gets me, sometimes.

And that would be after the boyfriend got drunk, lost his life savings gambling and shot her.

Since this didn't get any traction the first time, I will link this in here. Wait till it gets to the end with the choir @ about 4:40.

This was popular on the radio when I was a kid riding around in the back of my dad's car. Makes me think of him, passed on a long time ago. When the internet was young, I posted that I knew the song, but not the name....some guy on usenet taped it off the local radio and mailed me a cassette. Old school forum, baby!

This one is sad, and timely. Gurf Gurfson. Taken from us too soon.
