I never bought albums.....I always bought cassettes. The last one of those that I bought was actually bought by my Stepfather and it was an Elvis Presley "Greatest Hits"-type of cassette with a photo of him (Elvis) in that iconic black leather suit from the "'68 Comeback Special".

I'd have to look at my purchase history to be honest, I am not certain.
But I think the last cd I purchased was John Prine- Tree of Forgiveness. 2018? Which turned out to be his final studio album unfortunately. Still a bit torn up about that.

But this thread got me to thinking, I have a huge eclectic collection, old and new(ish) and I used to buy about a cd or two a month, not including merch at live performances to, if nothing else- support.

But somewhere it just stopped. I need to assess the reasons.

I used to buy albums and play them once to loosen any debris in the grooves, clean them thoroughly, then record them to a cassette. The album was then put away. Worked well; I still have many dozens of pristine LPs.

Last album I bought was whenever Tower Records went under...15 years ago? Anyway, when they were blowing out their inventory I bought a few...Charlie McCoy and Atlanta Rhythm Section are two I can remember.

BB King Live At The Regal and BS&T Child is Father to the Man (big Al Kooper fan). I never had CD copies of either and found a couple nice clean used ones.
