in highschool it was Chernobyl - cuz post apocalyptic teens dream of wastelands they can remake into their own image.
in college it was: Chalk Sword Herb, then Billy Pilgrim (got bought out by the official band), then Boney Maroney, then Woodpussy. alas that last one was already taken by some real deal crazies based out of FL, but it didn't matter because woke culture demanded that a bunch of dudes couldn't use 'p*ssy' as a band name in any form or shape, even if we were wearing makeup, dresses and high heels. and that was 1992. The last and final attempt was $14 Dollars The Hard Way.

Busch Pilot. Best dick joke band name ever!! Was a 80-90’s Rick cover band.

My next band: Bob Fender’s Honkytonk ( insert clever last name)

I once named a band The Groove Diggers. One of the members was creeped out by it.
I played in a band for about five years called the Groovediggers. Currently playing for The FOG (freakin old guys).

One of my very old favourites was Foxey Satch and the Heartbreakers.

Hmmmmmm, in 1998 I made up the name and did a thorough search for it on line. Nothing came up. Now there are a whole bunch of bands using the name.
Same thing with The Rockaholics. Ha! A good name is a good name!

The month of May in 1980s Glasgow had Mayfest which gave the pubs 3am licences if they put on live music.
Three of the guys who worked with me in a bar put a funk band together for the duration; 5 gigs per week at £50 head was very good money for a student.
We used various names depending on the brewery venue we were playing.

The drummer was called Vince so we called ourselves Vince and the Evolution
We also used Blood On The Axe Of Satan's Wrath in which a bunch of guys in cut off denim jackets and Iron Maiden t-shirts turned up to see us.

Hmmm. I think all the bands I’ve been in have had crappy names. I’ve only been in a few but I really didn’t like any of the names.

My current band is named "Don't Tell Debbie" and there IS a story behind it.

Original members of the band (I'm the last founding member) were all in another band fronted by a gal named Debbie. Long story short, she was kind of a tyrant, we weren't enjoying playing her sappy lounge music at restaurant gigs, and wanted to do something more fun on our own as a side project. Here in Austin, it's not unusual to play in multiple bands so we didn't think anything of it. We were respectful, though, and made sure not to book anything that would interfere with her gigs, but played music we preferred in side gigs during the "down time". While sitting around one evening trying to figure out what to call the project, my wife at the time said, "Why don't you call it 'Don't Tell Debbie'?" as a joke. We all had a good laugh but opted to go by a different name instead, as we didn't want to piss off Debbie but when she found out we were doing a side project she was livid. She kicked us all out of the band at that point for being "disloyal", so there wasn't any reason not to anymore. We've been "Don't Tell Debbie" ever since.

Best "revenge" for the firing was when her band got booked as the opener for Don't Tell Debbie at a popular venue for New Year's Eve! Good times!! ;)
