I am too pragmatic to simply pick the most expensive or drop the biggest name I have ever played...
So, all things considered, my Peavey Classic 50 was the best amp I ever played.
Honorable mention was my Musicman RD50.

Back in the early 1980s, one rehearsal room at SIR had a small box 50-watt Marshall on a 4x12 cab. That particular amp is the single most perfect tone I ever got.

I can get close with other amps, but almost 40 years later, I still remember the sound and feel of this amp.

My old Sunn was cool, but BEST was probably my Fender Deluxe (not Deluxe Reverb).

The best amp I have ever played through is a Mesa Dual Rectifier Roadster through a highly modified (Emmience Govenor and Wizard speakers, sealed with RTV sealant, and rewired with 14 gauge wire) Carvin 4x12.

Even better than that though, I now play through a Fractal AX8 and my Mesa sits wanting.

Victoria Ivy League, I was in a shop and a guy traded it in, along with a Carr Raleigh which I didn't care for at all, but was a really well made amp, just a different thing. I have played a lot of well known amps at home, and wonder if I might need a bit more space to open then up and get the full effect, still the IL was pretty nice at low volume.

My brother's '59 Bassman. We played it until the cabinet disintegrated. He rehoused it but it was never the same....

I've got 7 boutiques. All round BEST sound is Nace. I plugged in and it felt "therapeutic".

For years I pined after Kink's Low Budget tone. IMO best tone ever created on LP. I just figured vintage amp...let it go. Then I saw on stage, during same era, Peavey Maces. I PMed Dave Davies on Facebook. He kindly replied Low Budget was recorded with twin Maces on a Les Paul Heritage.

I had had a Peavey Deuce I unloaded recently after owning 20+ years. In other words, the tone I sought, I had.

Skynyrd One More From the Road same same. It is absolutely the BEST tone ever recorded. Maybe modded and played through JBLs.

For a short while I had a 200 watt Marshall Major head. Unbelievable ! It was more than the way it sounded, it was the way it reacted to my playing. The thing weighed more than 100 lbs (at least it felt like it weighed more than 100 lbs.). I was afraid to turn it up all the way but it was a clean sound with just the right amount of grit and if I turned down the volume on my guitar a little bit, the sound was just wonderful.
