I'd recommend Thorn or G&L, depending on what you want to spend. Fender's worth looking at too, I guess :D

New new American Pro series. They have many of the features the other do not, The neck is great and the pups are the bomb. YMMV But I cant put mine down]

I think the answer is ... a personal partscaster. Mine would be a Baja neck with 52RI body and reverse controls.

Otherwise, it is my MIM FSR BSB RC.

Chihoe Hahn, a small shop builder in New York, might be the answer. He'll build you what you want. Or the answer could be the Fender Custom Shop or Suhr or Tom Anderson. All are very meticulous.

One thing is for certain. The point of diminishing return is certainly applicable. The more you spend the less you get for your dollar. I admit to spending more only to find out I like a much cheaper model more later on.

This to the moon and infinity and beyond!!! raised to the 104th!

Seriously, Whenever a friend tells me about how they found a piece of gear that makes their skin tingle because it was so fun to play there's only one response...

Just buy it. And rationalize it later.

You know when you pick up something that feels special to you.

Just keep playing till you find one like that. Then buy it.

Forgot to add; who else makes a high quality level TE with a (real) 'V' shaped neck and rosewood fretboard (my preference) for a reasonable (not custom shop) price?

    Either of these two:

Seriously, the ASAT Special is everything I want in a Telecaster. Fat, deep bass, beautiful no ice pick treble, and a bridge superbly comfortable to play (I sometimes rest my hand on the bridge, so that's important to me).

This is the first paint over sunburst I've ever liked the aesthetic of. I typically don't understand that look when you could just have a relic burst but the black over burst looks pretty cool with the maple neck.
