20190914_151502.jpg The Hot Rod Tele is working for me.

S1 gives you the neck and bridge position and the 5 way gives all the normal Strat options.

I believe we have a bit of Trans-Atlantic confusion here. We have the same expression here in America, but with what is obviously a very different definition.

When it comes to teles and strats, I suffer from a kind of "guitar bi-polar disorder"! So that Parallel Universe Strat-Tele hybrid catches my eye.

I traded a nice Tele for this and cash. And I’m much happier.

    Does that count?

Guess if my Tele turned into a strat I'd have to trade it for a Tele!

My Robin Rawhide is the perfect "strat" for me. Prefer the tele body and hard tail bridge.

I'd have to buy another Tele.

    My 2003 highway one telecaster

It looks exactly like a normal telecaster

But using this Jerry Donahue wiring I get 2 extra positions. Both pickups half out of phase , A/B against my strats this sounds exactly like bridge and middle on a strat then I can get both pickups in series giving a loud fat tone which if the pickups were a RWRP set it would be a very wide range humbucker. the neck pickup cover has its own lead to ground.

How about cross a Tele with a jazzmaster, Firebird and strat:

I have the parallel universe white guard strat. It’s a tele with a strat body, best of both worlds for me.

That’s nice! I’m currently looking at a 91 Plus Deluxe and a 90 Ultra. I’m leaning towards the Ultra.

For me the Telecaster was the gateway to the Strat. Before the Tele, I couldn’t get along with Stratocasters but after spending a couple of years only playing Telecasters, everything clicked and I’m a card carrying member of the Strat player club. I’m still drawn to Telecasters but it seems 9 out of 10 times I end up playing a Strat.

Ok, so on the outside, my Tele looks like a stock SSTele but the 5 way Jerry Donahue switching ( I used 0.015 for HOoP) it does a great impression of a strat bridge and middle sound.

Apart from the solo this is all the bridge pickup of my Telecaster and the bridge with neck half out of phase to hear the comparison

Played to the best of my ability with a bit of artist licence while being as faithful to the original as possible, through my Roland Blues Cube, no effects ( apart from the phase shifter section) just cranked the channel volume

I didn’t realize how comfortable a Strat body was until I got one. I think I’d like the Tele controls on one. I do wish Teles had front exit jacks.

I wanted a Strat-Tele, with a little Les Paul thrown in the mix:

Does that other switch do anything?
The upper Gibson style toggle on my Tele / Jazz master / Firebird strat hybrid selects what happens on the middle position of the 5 way super-switch on the telecaster control plate. I can have the middle pickup, neck and bridge or all 3 leaving the other positions as normal !
