Found some wood... Looking for suggestions on what type of guitar I should build with this? Looks like oak for the body and not sure what the other is. Cherry?

Thinking if it's a tele sized body, then I might be able to squeeze in a 3 piece body, but most likely a 4 piece. Probably would have to hollow it out to keep weight down a bit then cap it... I think I have some maple I could use for a top. Definitely have some poplar. Or I could use the mystery wood for both top and neck... oh yeah, I think I have some spalted wood as well. Suggestions welcome.

Yep, no rules! I did an oak strat many years ago & you definitely wouldn't want it hanging around your neck for long! It doesn't look like you have enough cherry for a body by its self. If a 2 piece oak isnt the 12.5" needed you could glue in a cherry center stripe to get the needee width or a combo of other stripes. Chamber whatever you have and put whatever you like for s top. Cherry is a joy to work with and makes great necks. Oak will need grain fill if a smooth surface is desired.

Looks like white oak to me, and that other stuff sure does look like cherry.

Do a cherry body, hollow it out, with an oak top. Or the other way around! There are no rules.

Maybe you'll have enough cherry for the neck too.
The oak is 8/4 and the cherry is 6/4. I think there would be enough to do an oak body with cherry neck and cap. Maybe I'll do a thinline with 1 piece neck...
