Thanks Dave. Now it makes sense.

Here is a pic of what the tuners should look like. Seems to be all the 3 on a plate are with the kidney bean shape and not the tulip shape. Anyone point me to finding something like that?

You guys are finding what I'm finding. No tulip buttons on a 3 on a plate setup.
Strange to think this would be a hard item to find.

I have emailed WD Music sales with a picture of what I want and will await to see if they respond and with what.

    Thanks for looking.

Very few of the less expensive Gibson models with three-on-a-plate had tulip tuners. Usually theywere the type shown in the Stew-mac catalog.

Historic Spec Bumble Bee Capacitors - Two-Pack $132.93
Straight from Gibson Guitar’s Historic Re-issue guitars come Gibson Gear’s new Historic Spec series – parts that have been specially designed to replicate the original parts used by Gibson in the late 1950s. This two-item set of .022 mfd Bumble Bee Capacitors look, perform and sound just like the original capacitors, which were used on late ’50s Les Pauls and vintage SGs. Famous for their tone (and their stripes!), the Historic Spec Bumble Bee Capacitors are specially made for Gibson and can help you achieve that sweet, full tone our legendary instruments are famous for. Put a little sting in your guitar.

Looks like the face of that SG spent some time under some UV light (store window?).
    Great find, congrats.

That may very well be but obviously this one did.
Do you think I won't have any luck finding them and should just get the kidney beans?

P.S. Put that sweet thing up on MyLesPaul forum. You'll get miles of adoration plus a complete history. The single pickup fan club is teeming over there. I love it, BTW.:D

I haven't seen anyone suggest it yet but try checking out everythingsg.com, they are to SGs what this site is to the Tele.

Very interesting; Photo-fading on the front but not on the back.

Looks like it was sitting in a window display at some time. I'd try ebay for your tuners. You might get lucky on a good used set there. I have a 70 SG Deluxe which is basically that but with two pickups, a bigsby and stereo outputs. I love the volute on the head stock. You did well.

Here's an old one that's kind of blurry. I love this guitar, It's the 1st electric I bought and I get a major kick out it. There are divots in the fret board in the bar chord positions. The bigsby is useless and the pickups a microphonic. It's a total blues machine. All SG's should have Les Paul style pic guards.
