...to clear-out some tight body holes? The necks screws on my Palo Escrito are very tight and they're pulling the neck off-center. I'd like to open them up a tad. I've heard some folks here recommend assuring that they're clearance holes, but I'm uncertain what the correct drill-size is. Can anyone assist on this?
    Thanks, PJ.

3/16" would be a good starting point. The screws themselves are likely about 0.170"... 3/16" equals 0.188". This would give you just a bit of play. If you're nervous start out with a slightly smaller drill... 11/64"

Yep, that's the "standard" for clearing out body holes.

Start smaller, and work your way larger. Once drilled, you cannot make a hole smaller. You can always make one a little larger if need be.

I like 11/64ths for this task.

Haven't had a misalignment yet that impelled me to enlarge any of the body holes more than that.

I think if 11/64ths won't work, time to consider plugging and redrilling the holes in the maple. But again, never had to do that on any MIM. Multiple Squiers, yes, but not MIMs so far. Although, I admit I've bought all but maybe 5 MIMs after thorough personal inspection, and a lot of Squiers just got shipping to me sight unseen.

11/64" is the correct size for a clearance hole.

Thanks guys. I have an 11/64" and that seems to be the prevailing POV and a good way to go.
