I'm trying to come up with something for my Squier Cabronita that covers up the volume knob and switch that won't overlap the pickguard, but am not finding a drop-in readymade solution. I chopped off a Rock Rabbit plate, but scuffed it up in the process.

    .

You have a Tele. What's not to like? Regardless of pickguard? :)

It's ok to be a little different.

What's bugging me is the control plate has the switch up front not V-T-Switch to the rear ...

Hmm, so I could get not only strat style tremolo, but strat style volume swells as well, hmm...

A tele guitar with anything other than an ashtray bridge with a single coil pickup in it ... is no tele at all. It's just a guitar with a tele shaped body.

...with the exception of the bridge plate & single coil with a Bigsby... that's also a tele. IMHO :D

Obviously, I think a hybrid looks great on a non-chambered body, below is one of the favorites I've built. Go for it, OP, and let us know what you decide.

It’s my absolute favorite style for no particular reason. 8419D742-B3B7-4CE4-AB22-CCC09899ECF0.jpeg

Variations on a theme is one of my favorite musical devices as per improvisational fancy.

never been a huge fan. it's not terrible, but that shape loses a lot of its elegance without the lower bout swoop. i think it would look nicer just to have a top rout and the full thinline pickguard (but i guess it's too late for that now?).

I like the look of a thinline pick guard on a regular telecaster.

Not a thing wrong with that. I do like the disappearance of the one 90 degree angle in guitardom (okay, not a really 90, although it comes off as such). I always thought that needed fixing. Also the '69 guard looks fine on a solid tele.

I prefer the look with the standard Tele guard. To my eyes, that swept over look doesn't really appeal. But what I think is of little value as compared to how you like it.

My thought is that you should outfit your guitars any which way you love them to be!
