ZZ Top, eh?
It’s a foreign name, in a foreign language, so we pronounce it the way those foreigners pronounce it, out of respect for their foreign ways.
Then we apologize to other Canadians for not saying “zed.”
I hear what you're saying . . . but it's a name so I pronounce it the same way as Americans.
I've always wanted to say 'Zed Zed Top' just to be grammatically correct, but I bow to the people who suggest that we call it by the promoted name. Too bad, really.
You Canadians say that too? I thought that was just an English thing?
I think we say zed… let me cheque… yep, unlike our southern neighbours, we say zed.
According to multiple Websites hoovered up Google, they're still pronounced "Zee Zee Top," not "Zed Zed Top," in England and Canada.
I’m stupid, it just occurred to me that Canada is a country of the commonwealth so yeah... it makes sense....duh

When Billy put the name together, he took the ZZ from Z.Z. Hill, who I assume also pronounced his name that way.
My next band name is going to be Lieutenant Z and the Aluminum Soccer Ball.
When I first moved to Canadia, I had never heard of "zed".
This was one of the first questions that came to mind.
Mrs. Suave Eddie, a Canadian native informed me that "zee" was a brand of toilet paper.
Strange country. You would have thought they would have checked that before they let you in.

zed zed top. We also call Bush "Bush X" and the Who "the whom"
I don't care how US people say ZZ Top. To me it all sounds like La Grange. ZZzzzzzzz
I always thought the name was from Zig Zag and Top, which were popular in those days. Kind of a mashup of those two along with ZZ Hill.
This reminds me (somehow) of the story of the determining of the spelling of Led Zeppelin.
