It’s a foreign name, in a foreign language, so we pronounce it the way those foreigners pronounce it, out of respect for their foreign ways.

Then we apologize to other Canadians for not saying “zed.”

I hear what you're saying . . . but it's a name so I pronounce it the same way as Americans.

I've always wanted to say 'Zed Zed Top' just to be grammatically correct, but I bow to the people who suggest that we call it by the promoted name. Too bad, really.

You Canadians say that too? I thought that was just an English thing?

I’m stupid, it just occurred to me that Canada is a country of the commonwealth so yeah... it makes sense....duh

Although I bet you don’t say “aluminium”

    Or do you?

When Billy put the name together, he took the ZZ from Z.Z. Hill, who I assume also pronounced his name that way.

When I first moved to Canadia, I had never heard of "zed".
This was one of the first questions that came to mind.

Mrs. Suave Eddie, a Canadian native informed me that "zee" was a brand of toilet paper.

Strange country. You would have thought they would have checked that before they let you in.

I don't care how US people say ZZ Top. To me it all sounds like La Grange. ZZzzzzzzz

I always thought the name was from Zig Zag and Top, which were popular in those days. Kind of a mashup of those two along with ZZ Hill.

    Hi.

This reminds me (somehow) of the story of the determining of the spelling of Led Zeppelin.

Which I will leave you to google if you don't know it, as I said I was going to bed and I don't want to make a liar out of myself.

    Night.
