Award-Session JD10 - perfect for adding a bit of hair to a clean amp, sounds very tubelike, reacts perfectly to picking dynamics and guitar vol. pot.
Oh, and if it's good enough for Jerry Donahue...

+1 on the TS-9...I've also used the TS-9 in conjunction with a Boss BD-2 Blues Driver, and got pretty good results...next step is to see if I can get my hands on some Keeley modded ones...

Bad Monkey is a great way to go IMHO and much cheaper than a Tubescreamer. Another way to go is a Monte Allums modded Boss SD-1. It's also a cheaper alternative to a Tubescreamer.

The Rocktron Austin Gold is the ABSOLUTE best overdrive pedal for Blues and Country.. It gives you that sound that can't be described but I guess that the name of it says it all!

i have a turbo tubescreamer but only ever use the TS-9 setting. i use a marshall bluesbreaker set to clean boost in front of that for solos. that's a pretty contollable/crazy combination.

I like blues. I like to rock. I love my strat and tele, too. I guess I just live in a mix and match kind of world!

Keeley-modded Rat II, and a Prescription Electronics Germ (also used for clean buffer). I plan to dig out my old Z-Vex Mammoth and play with that a bit again, tho.

A 1994 DOD Classic Tube, it's a great Tube Screamer alternative.

    Boss OD-20 Drive Zone.

Extremely versatile and sounds good too. Very usable EQ that is more flexible than that of the originals it tries to ape...

The only drawback is that you can spend too much time tweaking it as opposed to "set and forget" pedals. I mainly use the BD-2, FD II and RAT - settings.

I might lack the boutique cool (that I too crave:oops: ) but it is incredibly useful if you are willing to take the time to tweak it.

Fulltone OCD and Maxon OD-9 - both are true bypass and they respond nicely to picking dynamics and guitar volume control changes.

I think you'd like the Route 66--Johnny Hiland does.

Bad Monkey as modified by Humphry Audio. Lots of useable bottom end. Never tried the standard, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I like it.i

I use a BYOC Tube Screamer clone for overdrive, a clone of an early Rat that I built myself for distortion and a Fulltone '69 pedal for fuzz.
