Two lives ago I got a new ax handle and a pair of store bought suspenders. Last life I got myself a brand new car. Edsel. She was a beauty.

This life? I’m not there yet. But I’m hoping for nachos.

    Colonoscopy.

Actually it's next Thursday and I'm only 57. Early birthday present I guess.

When I was turning 60 last summer I told my wife I was going away by myself for the week. I took a train to a tiny village in the countryside and walked alone in the hills for days, no emails, no contact with anyone I knew.

Nothing against the idea of being a year older, just that I've hated birthday celebrations since I was a child. They were rotten then, and I'd rather not be reminded going forward.

That’s a good lad. I have a good friend who is a physician. He told me if you get a colonoscopy and come out clean, then go back when they tell you to, it’s next to impossible to die from colon cancer. On the other hand, if you ignore it and leave it to chance, by the time you have symptoms, you’re one foot in the grave. He was dead serious with this, and he hardly has a serious minute all day, so I know he meant it.

Six years ago on my sixtieth,I took a two hour cruise and picked up a used, but mint Mesa MK V head.
    I'll always remember that day.
I bought a Mesa 1x12 27 inch cab a few weeks before and everything fell into place for the head on my Birthday.
Every man needs to crank up a Mesa at least on one of his birthdays.

I certainly remember my 60th, as it was only 13 months ago :)

We went to Vanuatu on holiday. Remember when you could travel overseas? Those were the days...

It wasn’t what I got that I remember, it’s where I was and what I did.
Just over three years ago on my B-day, I was in Nashville with my friends Audrey and Matthew.
We (The Audrey Malone Band) had two gigs, one at The Country, the other at the Family Wash.
We had a great time, and heard lots of great music from the other bands we saw.
I couldn’t ask for a better way to officially become a geezer!

Wait.... Whats his "official geezer" stuff you speak of?
    I resemble that accusation.....

Fantastic stuff. And one of those catalogs you can browse through and stop on every page thinking "I didnt even know I needed that!"

I can't even remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, and you expect me to remember my birthday six years ago? Ain't gonna happen. But, knowing me, I probably bought myself a new Strat that I then sold at a loss on CL a year later, lol.
