I wouldn't call it Black Friday 'round these parts. Gray at the worst, mostly because it rained hard all the way there and back.

I'm stuck in Sulphur, LA on a job site. The project shut down for the holiday, but work resumes at 8:00 Saturday morning and I didn't have time to get home and back. I needed strings for my newly-purchased pawn-shop Junior, and the music stores in Lake Charles are both closed due to hurricane damage. So, off to the GC Beaumont I went, not really remembering that it's "Black Friday" (queue the scary music).

When I got there, they had a sign inside the door that said to line up HERE, but there was no line. There were maybe ten people in the whole place. They had the floor taped out with flow-direction arrows and 6-foot COVID spacing, but nobody was there to follow the instructions. I looked briefly at (but did not play) a gorgeous burgundy mist Player Series Telecaster, and a sonic blue Jaguar. Then I found two packs of Regular Slinkies, grabbed a dozen red celluloid Fender medium picks and was on my way. I almost bought a strap, but decided spending $30 on a strap for a $100 guitar was madness. I'll just see what I have lying around when I get home.

Just a few minutes ago, I saw an ad on Facebook for THIS:

    waves_echosphere.jpg

Today only, absolutely free, so grabbed it. It will be a nice addition to the old-school Waves plugins I already own.

I'm 71. I sold a like-new Gibson Les Paul Classic 1960 Reissue, the one with the modified weight, back in 2013. I decided to downsize by getting rid of a few guitars. It was a mistake. The ES-339 is a replacement for that Les Paul.

When I clicked on it, it was $329. But it came with a free cable, cover, and footswitch. Sweetwater had those items listed separately for $135 all together. So I thought I did pretty good.

I ordered an MXR Super Badass Variac Fuzz.....and returned it. Not into it, the modulation changes volumes too much and it gates more than I want it to.

So then I ordered a Mythos Golden Fleece. Not yet received.

I'm in need of a Fuzz pedal.

    Black Friday or not.

Mine for $299 from Sweetwater only had the cable--no cover or footswitch. I have a couple of two button switches laying around, hoping one will do! The Supro one is over $50, so you did well to get one and a cover for the extra $30 over what I paid.

Three sets of Martin strings from sweetwater or $12.

    Minimal tax and free shipping.
Little bit different alloy than what I use, but I'll see.

@HotRodSteve a bottle of Bulleit was my black Friday purchase too. It came with mugs but they are too big for how much Bulleit I drink and nowhere near big enough for how much coffee I drink 20201127_214810.jpg
