A while back I just about posted a rather scathing attack about a given subject and I realized that the only one who would care about my "world view" was me. So before I posted, I changed it.
The original post dealt with a subject that I feel very strongly about, and I was about to explain how wrong viewpoints by some were to be held. I then thought about the response by the members here, not just online, but off. I didn't want to create that so I redacted and wrote something different.
So I read a post by one of the "old-timer's" here who said it should be a thread.

So here we are. What posts have you thought about posting and then thought better of it, changed your mind, and took it down or changed it?????

A few rules that MUST be followed:

NO NAMES-Everything must be in general terms. DO NOT GET SPECIFIC. We all respect each other here, so let's keep it that way.
DO NOT POST WHAT YOU WERE GOING TO POST. Again, do not get specific, speak in general terms.
I TRUST THE MODERATORS AND OWNER HERE.

I know that we can keep the discussion on a high level.

'Someone on the internet is wrong'

We now live in a society that gives two ****es about perfect strangers but let people we know slide.

    Unless, of course,
    We are

Stuff like this makes my head hurt...

There are better coping mechanisms than bottling up frustrations to then anonymously vent in a very one sided fashion (of course it's all the other guy's fault!)...

Hopefully whatever issues one has, they've been dealt with appropriately and moved on - What good would it do to open up old wounds, especially in a way where they can't be discussed?

    Just my ¢0.02...

A post about indecision and how others work around it was my latest non-post.

    See what I did there?

I am sorry if I gave the impression that this post was about differences of opinion. It is not. It is about any given topic that someone might have found interesting or wanted to discuss and then thought differently. It's easy to self censor, but there may be things that would be kind of cool to talk about.
The only reason I put those suggestions up was to keep this from being pulled.
I made a horrible mistake if it appears that I was trying to bring up past wounds. That was not the intent at all.

Well, I was going to post about having a ******* at the same time you are drinking a *****, but then it occurred to me that *** ***** always jumps at the chance to turn that topic into something ****** so I just decided to forget about it.

    I hope I didn't say too much?

Sometimes I write a post that's not quite
That should be on the official TDPRI T-shirt.

I was going to post about my disdain for fly dancers. 35 people doing jumping jacks in the background while 1 singer/rapper tries to entertain. I am not a fan and I was going to ridicule the practice.

Then it occoured to me that others on the TDPRI might be big fans of the up and down hand waving and strutting about. Left right left right strutting and hand waiving. High kicking, fist pumping and neck twisting. Perhaps you dig it.

I decided not to criticize something that I don't understand. Goofy damned fly dancers.

What I don't understand is why can't a post be deleted ? I post a question, for instance, then 10 minutes later find the answer on my own, and not wanting to bother anyone try to delete it but can't...I can only edit it.

Well if I posted then it invalidates the premise. But then if I don't post no one will know what I didn't post. But then if I post...

If I submitted everything that I typed my post count would easily be 40K-and a few people would probably not like me very much. However, I'm of the opinion that it's much more important to retain civility and harmony than it is to shove my opinions down peoples' throats. If you can't find anything nice to say, nobody really wants to listen to you yelling at clouds. :)
