Well one thing that this thread is revealing is what commercially successful bands are accepted by the masses as the real deal by not being mentioned here.

I have to agree on Red Hot Chili Peppers also. It's like when the achieved great success with Under The Bridge back in the early 90s they found a formula and have basically just rewritten the lyrics to that song for every radio single they released since.

I think Chad Smith is a fantastic drummer and Flea is great bassist. Whoever they have playing guitar through the years has always been more than competent but for me the song writing and Anthony's singing have been lackluster.

But what do I know, they're very successful and I'm not but their success didn't come via my checkbook.

I debated starting a thread for that purpose: "what bands are perfectly rated" but that felt like beating a dead horse.

Doesn't this describe most of Motown's music? Elvis Presley? Tina Turner?

I got tired of ZZ Top a long time ago. I would've said Tres Hombres was their classic.

Depends on whose rating we're going by. If it's my rating, well they're all rated perfectly.

U2, Nickelback, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Beatles, Ramones, Black Sabbath, AC/DC and i'm going to say it: Led Zeppelin!

Are they bad: No, some are great. But they aren't gods and most filled their albums with numerous sprinkles of crap and leftovers and experiments gone wrong. Hey, none of them are Elvis (even Elvis wasn't Elvis as we know and love him). But the Rolling Stones they ain't. Nobody over-rates the Stones... they just are what they are. And that's good enough.

Now i'm back to listening to Blackberry Smoke till the world ends. please continue...

I could also add Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, Yes, Genesis, and most of the prog crew. Just don't get it...
