Find a used BBE mind bender , best chorus/vibrato ever made...(you can still find them used at sane prices, before the word gets out and they get out of reach), it is essentially a great copy of the early BOSS chorus and vibrato pedal (in a single pedal).
Hasn't left my board for 20 years (the one in the video is the latest incarnation I have the early one, both are great)

For 80s and 90s country it was either a Boss Dimension, or a Boss chorus of some kind, for the most part. This is excluding the outlier 'other' devices used. These would be a fairly small percentage of what you'd hear from that time.

If it wasn't a Boss, it was likely a tri-stereo chorus of some kind. That's what Landau, Lukather and Huff were using. Many other session guys followed suite after those three used it on various hit songs. It was something that was specifically sought from session guitarists in the 80s.

The TC Tricerachorus gets astonishingly, no, dangerously close to the tri-stereo chorus sound. The Source Audio Gemini also gets frighteningly close as well.

A GREAT chorus to try to cover a lot of bases is the Digitech Hardwire chorus. They aren't made any longer, but they can be had fairly inexpensively used. It does killer Boos style chorus, and a really good tri-stereo type. It has several other good chorus types. I can't recommend it enough.

I love mine. It is a touch noisy, though (I have the one with the older graphics; not sure if that's relevant here).
