Vacuuform and creepy crawlers
I had a green machine in the late 70s - I was 5 or 6. The only one on the block. All my friends had regular big wheels. The only downside was that green machines sucked for big wheel wars. My legs and shins seemed to be more exposed. One evening after getting tired of being bruised up, I told everyone I was going home for a minute to get some soccer shin guards and some skateboard pads. When I got back everyone had already left and gone home.
I had this. I remember getting it, for a 9 year old it was like a NGD.
Marky Maypo was the best:
. . . and Homer and Jethro were pretty good, too:
Favorite commercials? Wtf? Do you have a favorite door-to-door salesperson as well?
When I was really little we had a milkman who left dairy products including ice cream in a little metal box outside our front door. I'm lucky to have experienced the tail end of that phenomenon. I'd say the milkman was definitely my favorite door-to-door salesman as a kid.
Aside from the ice cream delivering milkman, I can't say I remember any other door-to-door salesman from my youth.
Shoot ,the milkman at our house just walked in and put the milk in the fridge.
There was a piano in the area between the living room and the kitchen
He would always play a few keys as he walked by just to let us know he was there
I know a lot of the shows of this era, from syndication, but I don't know the ads since we didn't have TV 1962- until I was away to college and out of the house.
But later, maybe the late 1970s, there was a Manwich commercial with a brunette that really caught my eye. That radiant, Meg Ryan thing going on.
I'm presuming you were a teenager by then.
I was an early maturer.
I liked the K-Tel record commercials. I also liked K-Tel records. Nothin but the Hits Baby!
I want my Maypo!!!!!!!
I’ve hated commercials since childhood.
I’ll slink away now.
