For Christ the King Sunday we've got
Sing to the King (Horne / Foote)
Crown Him with Many Crowns (Bridges / Thring)
Amazing Grace - Chains (Newton / Tomlin)
Song for All Nations (Hardesty)

I'm on my Epi Dot but playing mostly rhythm (some finger work on songs 2 and 4).

How about you?

• Awake My Soul (Brooke Ligertwood/Hillsong)
• Yes And Amen (McClarney, Moore, Brown/Bethel)
• Worthy Of It All (David Brymer & Ryan Hall)

I’m playing acoustic (Martin M-21). The WL leads from a keyboard. There’s also electric guitar, bass, and drums.

It’s only my second time with this WL. The first time was in September. Glad to be invited back.

This week's service is going to be more difficult. We like to start Advent very earnestly, reflectively. So, something like O Come O Come Emmanuel, right? Nope. Our "Announcements Person" thinks she's a cross between Johnny Carson and Chonda Pierce and thinks it's her job to make everyone laugh. So I'm not sure how to get the right mood going if we're headed right to beautiful downtown Burbank.

I'm thinking about avoiding that by doing it backward and old school:
Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Strength Will Rise
Here I Am to Worship
O Come O Come Emmanuel

I moved to a smaller town two years ago and began attending the church where I played last Sunday about a year and a half ago. Last Sunday was only the third time I played on a Sunday morning. I was on monthly for over eight years at my previous church.

It looks like that may change. Sunday’s WL had lunch with another WL and now I’m playing again this Sunday with her. They both lead from the keyboard. I’ll take one my Telecasters and the Marshall SC20C (set to 5W).

Here’s our set:

I Speak Jesus
In Jesus Name (Darlene Zschech)
The Heart of Worship (Matt Redman)
Majesty (Jesus Image)
Holy Forever (Chris Tomlin)

Good set . I really like I speak Jesus and have been trying to get our team to learn it.
First time I heard that song was in a list of stuff to learn for an event a few months ago.
This is the recording from that event and the vocals on that song were nuts!!

I worked out Sunday's order of service while drinking coffee with the pastor, in a way that sections off the comedy from the rest without hurting anyone's feelings:

Band overture: Everlasting God (no vox)
Announcements / Greetings
Scripture
O Come O Come Emmauel (only vox)
Raise A Hallelujah (full team)
Sermon
Prayer
We Fall Down (full team)
Communion
Come Thou Fount (full team)

Like a couple of you, I'm working up I Speak Jesus and hope to have it ready for the 12/18.

Here’s our lineup for this Sunday. I’ll be the only electric player and I’m taking my Gretsch g2622. No particular reason for choosing that guitar over a Tele or JM.

OOPS, my post was for Dec. 4

This week is even more old school:

Emmanuel (McGee version)
Oh Come Oh Come Emanuel (Hymnal version)
Because We Believe
Oh Saviour Rend the Heavens Wide (Hymnal version)
Come to Us (Walton version)
Creator of the Stars of Night (Hymnal version)
What Hope! An Eden Prophesied (Hymnal version)
The Advent of Our King (Hymnal version)
Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus (Hymnal version)

This is always the worst weekend for me. I love sing the old hymns, but the band is a bit superfluous for most of the hymns.

Sunday the 4th (2nd Sunday of Advent) is going to include:
Before the Throne of God Above
I Speak Jesus
There is a Fountain
Shine Jesus Shine

I'll probably include a carol next week, for those who refuse to understand Advent
