Recently read the book The Dirt by Motley Crue. Was never a huge fan, but I like it now. The guitarist is underrated. He would often tune his entire guitar down a whole step, like on Dr. Feelgood below. I have always liked one-guitar bands because you have to be good if you are the only one. He trims the fat, and has old school influences. I now see this band as an extension of the Mick Ronson/David Bowie era.

Song was fun but really loved the Tele player. Beautiful tone and masterful understated technique.

I've been digging back to my youth with a new appreciation of Eagles Hotel California and Robert Palmer Addicted to Love. Have blast signing along to my acoustic guitar.

Dukes a badass. My admiration for his playing is well documented on TDPRI. The last few Isbell releases have been peerless. Probably my fave songwriter of this generation.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

This last year or so I’ve turned into a total Richie Kotzen fanboi. Can’t get enough of the guy and he’s got a huge catalog.

Since seeing Albert Lee a few weeks ago I've been listening to a lot of clean, fast pickers. Here's one I really like :

I stumbled across his work a few years ago and bought "The Essential Richie Kotzen" CD/DVD set. However, for me, I think a lot of his best work has been with Winery Dogs. Power trios are great and Kotzen, Sheehan and Portnoy are right up there with the best. My wife and I went to see them in Manchester and they didn't disappoint.

This is what I'm listening to tonight:

They're awesome live. Saw them open for The National back in December. Really great night out!

Tried to post this before. Hope it works this time. Nice view inside the studio. What are the vocal mic’s? M49? And??

Nope, still won’t link to the in studio vid for reasons unknown. Bummer.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Been revisiting my Van Halen cd’s for the first time in years. That third album still doesn’t get me but the rest through Balance do. Balance was the big surprise. I didn’t like it at all 20 years ago but now I do.
