There have been a lot of new country sucks threads this year. This isn't one of them. I'm still finding country I like, just rarely on country or satellite radio. YouTube has been pointing me to music closely or sometimes distantly related to what I've downloaded and it's broadened my tastes considerably. Here's just some of it. I hope you like what you hear. I hope some of it is new and interesting to you. Enjoy!

Please post what you're listening to too!

    First the familiar, Bob Dylan

The Japanese House, beautiful harmonies with unexpectedly creative guitar work. I can't categorize this. Indie? Folk? Not really rock or pop but I like it.

CHVRCHES is a synth pop band. Their acoustic performances are what drew me in.

And I've found their synth performances mesmerizing.

I haven't told my wife yet that I've fallen in love with Lauren Mayberry. Maybe it's the eyes.

Sometimes when I'm not listening to rock or Texas music I'll listen to country.

I mostly listen to Sirius XM while commuting. Most often I listen to Bluesville and Outlaw Country along with a few others when I don't like the song on one of those.

For longer road trips to our factory (about 3.5 hour drive) I download and convert concerts off YouTube and put them on a USB stick. For example, this one...

Well, we do both kinds of music here.

    Country and Western.

For realz - I listen to lots of different things. Among my faves from over the years are ABB, Edmunds/Lowe/Rockpile, The Clash, Replacements, Rolling Stones, Muddy and Wolf and Lightnin’, on and on.

I’m on a Hank kick for my country fix right now.

For the last few weeks at least..

I haven’t listened to a OTA country station since Alan Jackson first couple of records were in rotation.. must be 20 years now. I listen to a wide variety of styles, I do occasionally listen to Dwight’s “ Bakersfield Beat” on XM, although he needs to open up his playlist, the Collins Kids are OK but..

I'm pretty focused on only very old blues these days,

But my wife will crank up Taylor Swift sometimes. Does that count these days?

I'm a Rock and Blues guy. Never cared much for Country. Did like the Southern Rock and Eagles and some Folk infused Classic Rock. CSN

I have found myself able to enjoy listening to Blackberry Smoke and Cadillac Three.

Mostly all I listen to is country anymore, but I did just watch a great Bill Evans documentary, and that made me think again that jazz really is the best music. Aside from that, Fire Records just put out two two-discs sets of the Television Personalities Complete Singles 1978-1994, and that's been a lot of fun. And early Bee Gees.

There's still eighty-some days in the year. Be patient, as what passes for Country in 2019 will surely bring the thread down.

I usually listen to country music on the radio..
If I don't like it, I change it to the other country station.

I am in the process of reading 21 boxes of paper. Some boxes hold 6000 pages, some less. I dare not estimate the volume I have left to read

I put YouTube on autoplay in the background and skip anything too modern, and after maybe 40h this week they know I want old Blues. Hooker, Muddy, Wolf, Son House, Otis Spann.... A load of stuff I spent years searching out and paying thru the nose for at university

This evening the algorithm focussed on Skip James, Lightnin Hopkins and Mississippi Fred McDowell. Delicious

Just discovered John Moreland when he opened for Tedeschi/Trucks. What a voice, delivery and emotion!
