Sold my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp years ago for a really nice price. Also traded a Ibanez Tubescreamer for a Phaser pedal.

A free Blackface Bassman head. It was in my dad's basement. It had to be associated with my little brother somehow I think but he'd been living on the other side of the country for years and claimed to know nothing about it.

Brand new Taylor 552 for $1750 in the open box tent at Sweetwater's Gearfest - they were selling for about $1000 more indoors.

The Ultra American Strat I bought was listed "open box, returned item. I took a chance. When it arrived at local GC, both I and an employee checked it all over. Not a scratch! The package for the strap lock was opened. Thats all. Saved $300 off listed price.

I bought a 56 Martin D-18 for fifty bucks one time. I cleaned up on it when I sold it, I got fifty seven bucks for it. That was in 1967.

Traded a used Martin 000-16 ( value at the time maybe 800) for an unknown classical at a GC in the days before common internet. Contacted the guy whose name was on the label and learned he sold them for 3,500. Wouldn’t happen now that internet is common!

I worked at GC in '96 before it was the massive conglomerate it is now (I think there were less than 30 stores nationwide at that time). We had a bunch of big box ProCo RAT RIs (LM308 chip, US made) collecting dust as no one bought them. I ended getting one for $15 as they were desperate to get rid of them.

about 3 years ago a friend offered me a Charvel surfcaster in cherry sunburst for 300.00 , I told him I could not do that to him ( he was desparate for cash) I told him it was worth about 1100.00 he didnot believe me , so I sold it for him on Ebay on a short sale for 1430.00 no question asked and I gave him the money , ( he gave me 100.00 for doing that)

I got an Ampeg V4B for $50 as a teenager in the 80s because the hesher who got it from his uncle didn’t know it was a head and said “it lights up, but it don’t make no sound”. Turns out, when plugged into a speaker cabinet, it did.

I bought a bag of 20 boss style pedal knobs for 7euro from amazon. I stuck them on loads of Chinese pedals which I then sold for more than I paid for them. Ultimately they paid for a much needed RV5.
The best guitar score to date was a Washburn hb15, traded for a bodhran that I got for free. It's my acoustic/slide #1.

Music deals seem to be my one superpower

    Back in the day
    - EH PolyChorus for $20 back around 1999
    - Boss CE-2, free, found in a car in a junkyard back in the late 80s

More recently, last three years or so
    - Lee Malia Epiphone RD for $400 with a couple pedals and a power supply
    - 60's Vox Student Amp with a Lark-branded Japanese LP copy for $100

From the same pawn shop in the last few years
    - 80's Crybaby, DOD Flanger, and a DOD chorus/distortion RockBox for $25
    - Lefty Mexi Strat for $170
    - Epi SG G400 for $100
    - USA G&L Legacy for $250
    - Early 70s Harmony Stella with Bobby Lee Hippie strap for $20
    - Fender Red Knob Twin, $250
    - Orange Micro Terror, $76
    - Gibson Anniversary case(gold plastic), $50
    - Vintage Tech21 SanSamp, $35
    - Tech 21 Bass Driver, $50
    - Roland MC-303 Groovebox, non working for $5
    - Korg Triton Rackmount, I think this was $1 on clearance because they lost the power supply
    - Stagg LP copy for $75 that came with an SKB case. Sold the Stagg for $75 and kept the case
Too bad the shop just fired everyone and brought in a brand new staff that have started pricing things like you would expect at a pawn shop.

From a different pawn shop that I've also gotten some deals
    - Squier Classic Vibe Mustang $175
    - Squier Classic Vibe 50's Tele $150
    - TWO Fender Reverse Headstock 60's Strats(Made in Mexico, FSR for Musicians Friend), one $240 and one $180, a year apart
    - 1975 Gibson SG Standard, beat up, replaced parts, broken heel with a solid repair, but a great player, $350
    - Schecter PT with hard case, $185

And people ask me why I hit the pawn shops every week to browse. I've bought way more, but this is the stuff I consider my big deals.

Gibson faded cherry sg for $160. Supposed to be 100 but he suckered me with a shill to 160. It has an ugly neck repair but its solid and plays great.
Ev 300 w pa speaker pair $90. Needed 2 Jacks replaced.
Epi dot studio w case $120 iirc. Very nice
80s fender lead II. Free. Won at Jim's house of guitars in San Diego. It was during the la riots so not many showed up for the midnight madness sale.
Sx lpjr callisto fixed neck. 89$ on closeout. Killer little p90 guitar.
    Axl 400+400 watt powered p . $49
    From ubuyguitars.
Got a very nice all mahogany seemingly solid wood 00 cutaway acoustic $40 at namm. Everyone who plays it wants it.
Silver creek solid rosewood acoustic $66 musicians friend closeout stacked double coupon deal
. I pretty much dont bother if it isnt a deal

I bought a SF Champ at a swap meet for $40, but it was too loud for my apt., so I sold it soon after, for not much more than that I think, but that was 25 years ago.

    I got my first strat, a '91 for 600 bucks off a mate, late 90's sometime.......bargain..:)

he got is as part of a building debt he was owed... he didn't play guitar, so he basically gave it to me to use for a few years, then he was short of cash one time and offered it to me...

I threw the money at him almost, here take it , he was happy,...:)

My Hotone Skyline Eko delay. Good value for under the 100 euro. Really great echo effect that gives a sound you don't get from other devices expensive or cheap. It has got that added quality to it that makes it more enjoyable than other devices in that field.
