I am going to replace the 3 way switch in my t style with a Bill Lawrence 5 way setup. Is there a particular brand/type of switch I should go with, or just use a stock Fender Strat switch?

Bill Lawrence wiring has to be rethought if you use a megaswitch. That uses a 2-wafer 3-pole switch with shunting on the in between positions. At least the one I looked at did.

I'm coming up with some mega switch wiring ideas.

    Idea #1 was
    a - N,
    b - N + B,
    c - B,
    d - N+B "half out of phase" N,
    e - N+B "half out of phase" B.

At first I thought that it might be cool to have two half out of phase positions, one of which hooks directly to the neck, and one of which hooks directly to the bridge. The other pickup hanging off the end through the cap cancels some range of frequencies.

Then I had second thoughts, thinking that "half out of phase" on the neck pickup is a better idea as it has a fuller bassier sound to begin with prior to canceling things out. So I think I'm going to replace position "e" above with N + B in series.

I've always used the regular stock Fender 5-way switch.
