Growing up we had a Afghan Hound who was a clown! He would snatch any ball my brother was playing with and run off with it wanting to be chased always just a step or two in front of my brother.

I had Border Collies, an Aussie Sheppard, and Toy Sheltie. All great dogs but at this stage in my life I would get another Toy Sheltie but if I get another house I'm thinking a Rhodesian Ridgeback. The wife had one and it was a really great dog. Very social and loves being with their people.

Right now we have two cats; a Ragdoll and mine is a Turkish Van who is very dog like. He does tricks, plays fetch and of course loves water. He also walks on leash.

    Beautiful!
We had a shelter dog " Layla" (now many years ago),
who looked like a Golden retriever with that flowing fur and same Golden body/head, but was all black, like a lab
    .
She was literally 'NO maintance' sweetest dog on the planet from the moment we got her, for almost 14 years!

Does it hunt bears or merely track them?

My Boxer has been an exceptional dog and I like him an awful lot. My pit is currently recovering from a TPLO procedure. So you could say I like him an awful lot as well.

I have 3 Shih Tzu's and I love them to death. They all have different personalities and are a riot to watch together.

My last dog was an American Pit Bull Terrier that was the sweetest dog I've ever had. I gave her to a friend of mine because we moved cities and no longer had the space she needed to exercise and be happy. I miss her, but I know she's being taken care of.

I got an Irish Setter for my 10th birthday...Ginger was an absolute sweatheart, high strung & very fast, with the most gorgeous, mahogany coat of hair! Sorry, I have problems posting images on this forum

I've always wanted a Golden Retriever. They are just such loving sweet dogs. At my age that's not gonna happen though. But every time I see a little Dachshund they just make me laugh! My two are part Dachshund.

I was raised on beagles. Many, many beagles. My dad was an amateur breeder and we would commonly have 60+ dogs. He had many AKC field champions.
More recently it has been mutts. Good dogs, all.
Even though I am the King of Dogs, I have always favored cats. Seal point Siamese when I was young. All kinds since.
I have associated with the Mighty Earny, Rocco of the many offspring and Frankie, who would meet me at the curb every day when I came home from work. I have had uncounted huge rats left at my bedside, waiting there for my approval. Nothing like having dead rat oozing between one's toes first thing in the morning...

IMO mixed breeds are the better choice.
They're smarter, have less health issues, and live longer.

I like all dogs. I grew up with Labs and German Shorthairs, and my parents still have one of each today. We also had a Weimarainer that was both an amazing bird dog and the best pet ever

My current dog is some kind of poodle mix, and he's too smart for his own good

I grew up with a half dozen dogs when I was still living with my parents. All shapes all sizes, seems like the best one were the ones that 'found us'. My wife and I are on our 2nd since being married and he's a poodle-aussie who is stubborn, mischievous and smarter than most of my friends kids. Dining room with Dog.jpg

Sir Smellalot looks quite Jack Russell like although his mother didn’t at all so his ( unknown) father’s genes must be strong in him. He’s our second rescue terrier cross as a married couple and that’s what I also had as a kid so I guess I have a preference.
