Embarrassingly, I can't remember when I got this album of Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou's playing. But this is one of two albums with new-to-me artists I listened to a lot last year.

    This is the other one:

The guqin is a 7-string zither. My favorite track from this album, The Lonely Teal, isn't on YouTube though.

Orville Peck for me as well. Unfortunately, I discovered him about a week after he had performed in Pittsburgh.

Listen to this song before you watch the video. The imagery might be off-putting to some here on this forum, but I imagine the music will fit right in here. Personally, I love this video, but it might be too much for some.

What can I say - I just got "back into" music a couple of years ago. Lots of things are new to me...

And it wasn't last year, but only maybe one or two before, that I first heard of Nick Curran (i.e, years after his passing).

Sad to have missed him live, glad that recordings make it possible to enjoy what he left behind.

Puddles Pity Party. When I first came across him, I was sure this was gonna be a Tiny Tim gimmick thing.....but I've learned better. Yeah, it's kind of a "schtick", but he's a solid performer. Here's two that should move you....they did me.

I'm kicking myself for not knowing about these guys before last year.

    Hi.

    Good topic.

Not sure about “favourite” as in the superlative sense, but in terms of ‘can remember off the top of my head right now something that I really like,’ and ‘I’m pretty semi reasonably sure this discovery happened in 2019,’ I offer up Paul Cary and the Small Scarys.

Oh yeah, and PPP. He can be flippin’ brilliant.

Which means I also need to add Postmodern Jukebox.

    Nick was great.
    He had the “real feel”.
