Hi.
Sometimes compilation albums get a bit of a dirty rep, a bad rap - incomplete, superficial ‘popular’ selection, misleading sampling, poor quality, blatant money grab repackaging, etc.
But, some can be great. And even, can become favourites.
So, is it one artist, one genre, one label, one brand?* And so on.
Myself, I’m very partial to Legend of a Mind: The Underground Anthology.
I was going to post the song the album title is drawn from, Moody Blues’ Legend of a Mind, but there’s no way around the fact the lyrics might breach a rule here. It’s a great song though, look it up.
Instead, here’s this.
And I like several similar offerings, like Mojo’s ‘Acid Drops, Spacedust and Flying Saucers,’ and the first two of the ‘Nuggets; Original Artyfacts From…’ series that I have.
And various Trojan and Studio One compilations of Jamaican music.
And you?
