I’ve always disliked or hated Les Pauls. Now this ******* sucker is sitting in my bedroom as a go-to guitar.

Should I execute it and have a Tele to take it place?

In Telecaster forum, is it (isn’t it) illegal to like LPs?

”Asking for a friend” doesn’t help one bit I assume.

Nope, Les Pauls are amazing. I am on an exclusive Les Paul kick myself. My Epiphone Les Paul Modern is playing like butter, I put Ernie Ball Hybrid .009s on the thing and it bends like a dream.

I'm also on the classic 'Les Paul/Marshall tone' kick that is like smoking crack. To the point that I may head out and buy a Marshall DSL40CR this weekend. I have a modeling amp that gets me close to that tone but can't help wanting the real deal.

I don't stand up when I play so the weight of a Les Paul doesn't hinder me at all, and actually the heaviness of it feels great. I prefer a heavier feeling guitar over a lighter one.

Somewhere along the way you grew up, now you've made a decision for yourself. It happens.

    You’re lucky

I love the feel of my les Paul but don’t really like humbuckers

I’ve had it for so long I’m not getting rid of it

A truly great Les Paul has mild pickups (as humbuckers go). It sounds like a Telecaster on steroids.

I do love Teles and LPs equally.

You could have both if it helps.

Through the years I have bounced back and forth between the Tele and the Les Paul.Could never really make up my mind.I now have 3 Teles,,
An Epiphone Les Paul Standard Pro and an Epiphone ES-335 Pro..I love and play them all..As far as I'm concerned, neither guitar has a monopoly on the market..

Congrats, but I can’t help but notice the ‘Custom’ truss Rod cover on that Standard L.P.???

You should have both...in every color, wood, and pickup configuration;). However, under your recent "Beatles only" resolution, you'll have to think "what would Harrison/Lennon/McCartney do in 2021 with the kind of money they have?" Wait, we know McCartney has both---problem solved:D!

I have an Epi Goldtop and a Gibson Special. Both are mighty sweet, but the Teles go to work more often.

Actually, it’s Traditional. I did some George Harrisonism to it, tried to transform it to Lucy. Vintage wiring, off with poker chip, Lollar pickups. And changing the TRC to ”custom”, just as George had. Only thing that bothers me is that Les Paul decal on the headstock.

Edit: sorry, it’s actually a Classic. Stupid me.

You were always a Les Paul guy, you just didn't know it yet. ;)

It takes spending some time with something to be able to truly evaluate it. First impressions are often wrong.

And yes, it is OK to like other guitars. I don't even own a Tele, and I haven't been banned from this forum yet.

I bought a 2020 Les Paul Standard in Unburst. I don't know why I bought this thing. I guess I thought I needed a Les Paul. It sounds great, it plays great, it weights 10 lbs and no matter what, i just can't bond with it. It lives in the case in the rack. I bet I don't have 10 hrs on it.

I had a pretty 2014 Les Paul '70s Tribute that I sorrowfully couldn't get along with for pickup reasons so she had to go. A 2007 single p/u Melody Maker sits on my knee now. I think we'll be very happy together.

I love my Studio with Burstbuckers. I just replaced the pots with ones measured at a little over 500k (they average about 515k, if I recall), just to make sure there's plenty of treble available, and I can always roll that off if need be.

"Telecaster on steroids" is apt in my case.
