This morning I found myself awake early. So I took my Gretsch Dobro out to watch sunrise. My phone said 60 degrees. The axe was staying in tune fine, but what do you think is to cold?

It was 38F during this gig...I noticed no negative effects on my solid bodies or my daughter’s acoustic (she played earlier in the day, when it was around 47F).

My main problem is that I hate cold weather. Below 60F is starting to get cold.

EDIT: Dang, I’m beginning to look like my father!

We keep the windows open at night right now, so it is about 61° inside in the morning. What was the question again?

Minnesota is to cold so I joined the Navy figuring wherever they send me it can't get much worse.

Below 55F outside is too cold (esp. if cloudy and breezy) in short sleeves/shorts and above 85F is too hot (esp. in the sun).

When I was young, under 50 degrees F was too cold to run home from work wearing shorts. I'd eagerly eye the weather when spring came so I could start getting home quickly again. It was only 6 miles or so.

Are we talking about for guitar health and playing outside?
If so, I’ve never even considered wether or not it were to cold to play outside.
But, it doesn’t get cold here often.
Conversely, I’ve played several outdoor gigs where I’ve wondered if the glue in my acoustic was melting.

When that guitar was standing in the forest, it likely saw lower temperatures.

It is your Delta T that is more concerning. The rate the temperature changes.

Is there anyone left in the US that knows the difference between, too, to, and two? This used to be the best educated nation on earth. What happened?

In The White Mountains where I lived on the sunny side of
Kearsarge most years in January the High was -10F.
Then The Sun would drop beneath The Foothills...
Liquor was a “key survival ingredient” - it took years after I
moved back to The Flat just lose that sense of coldness.

One night in North Conway I had to walk about 600 yards and I got the “sleepy feeling” sheer TERROR of freezing to death is all that kept me walking - 600 Yards - that’s all. I never bothered to find out the wind/chill. I do remember it
    being MLK Weekend 1991.

I was young too, maybe 36 or 37.
