Any industry insiders (or better Googlers) have any intel on a Mustang GTX Successor? Timeline?

I dig what Fender has been putting out for modeling amps, and though I’m not buying a new amp tomorrow by any means, just wondering how long I should hold off until I can see what’s next.

Thanks!

I'd say don't hold your breath on this one.

With what's going on in the world I'd suspect a lot of product development is behind or delayed.

Traditionally, Fender don't seem to hit the ground running with a new electronic product. It needs to get to v.2 or a year of software updates before they get it right.

Love my Mustang, but I won't be first in line for any new model they launch!

I'm with johncribben on this one. When the Mustang Gt100 came out I continued with my old Mustangs for a while.

Historically there seem to be initial issues when the new models hit the shops. Once they're fixed the amps then seem to be pretty good.

The GTX has only been out for 6 months or so; I doubt there will be a successor to for at least 2-3 more years. I fully expect at least one more major firmware revision too, with Fender continuing to apply the knowledge they are gaining from the Tonemaster line to the GTX and GT lines.

The GT got a lot of updates over the course of it's run. The GTX has been out about 6 months and aside from one small one to fix an initial issue right after release, there have been none so far. To my way of thinking this is potentially a very hopeful thing because they know of a few issues they are working on (fender rep is active in TGP thread and reels us whats going on) and us owners have made many things we want clear. The GT had updates regularly every few weeks or month or 2. So i believe there's going to be a big update coming that will make some major changes. I think they learned their lesson with the GT and are taking their time to get everything right that needs fixing or things we have asked for. The time it's taking i think speaks to the likelihood it will be big. Possibly more models too. I love the amp as is but no amp is perfect and there are a few changes i am hoping for, so i'm dying to see what comes. Thats one thing nice about modelers unlike tube amps. With tubes what you get at purchase is it. I remember the late 2018 update to the GT which absolutely revived the amp to a point i felt it was much better after the update.

As to what fender has in the oven as far as new modelers, who knows. They could do more tonemasters of other fender amps that we could see any time. But thats all 100% speculation with no basis by which to measure it's likelihood and therefore means nothing. But i think as far as the mustang type of modeling that covers all sorts of amps and models, like was said about the GTX has only been out 6 months so i doubt there will be anything new coming any time soon. I think THAT we can speculate on. And when they do i think the logical step up will be more powerful processing which will be a huge step. Imagine a mustang with tonemaster levels of processing ! That would be something i believe would be a game changer and a line that would have a very long lifespan. If they don't do that i see no point to a mustang successor. Having been received with rave reviews and with updates that can revise it and make it better continuously, nothing but processing upgrades make sense as far as a mew mustang type amp.
