I guess I'll get out the board, amp, and geetar and see what I can do. Another question: the Tube King has an AX7 tube in it. In a tube amp, putting an AU7 in place of the AX7 in the first position lowers the overall gain of the channel of the amp because the AU7 has about 30% less gain than the AX7. If I were to put an AU7 in place of the AX7 in the Tube King, would that achieve more "room" for adjustment on the master volume, or is the tube in the circuit mostly for looks?

That would be a question for other people.. I havent had any experience in tube overdrive pedals, and I havent owned a tube amp at home.. so I wouldnt know anything about changing tubes and all.. I was planning to buy a Pro Jr as a first tube amp, but a new guitar took the money that was supposed to be "amp fund" money.. LOL

I've posted too much ( over time) about how much I love a Blues Driver

But as much of a good fit I find it for my old Blues Jr. (Tone knob puts some presence into the amp and OD is ' just right' for me), it was never a good fit for my gone :( SF '68 Deluxe Reverb- it was too bright/fizzy with that amp ( had Bright cap pulled too)- my Barber Direct Drive was a great fit for that amp.
At least I still own the DD!

I use to use one all the time.I giggled with a bd2 in a blues band for yrs then my son stole/borrowed it and gigged it. He returned it a few weeks ago and it is now super noisy and fizzy when on. Any suggestions?

Try cleaning the input and output jacks with electrical cleaner.

I don't like the issues the pedal has with long decay. If you want to see what I mean just hold a note through the decay and you will see what happens.

That’s one of the selling points used by Monte Allums and others to sell mid kits for the BD.

And it is a valid point.

I installed his H2O+ kit on mine. Did it help? I don’t know without an original to compare it to. But it is a great pedal.:D

I recently got a ‘68 Deluxe and with the sparkly highs of the new amp I find myself discovering the BD-2 ’crispyness’ that I hear people complain about. It does not do that on just the Ethos side of my rig. I haven’t had time to address it but I believe it’s completely workable. I will try to dial the thing in before having it modded because I just love the magic unicorns and rainbows the BD-2 brings to the ol’ drive chain.
This also why I never sell a drive pedal. There is a contender for this slot on the bookshelf. It’s the Rocket Audio Blue Note Pro (I don’t have a Tour series so it’s whatever the other one is). Super smooth and even better EQ control, and might really go well with the Deluxe.

I have a BD 2 and a TS 9 I tried them once. MHO both sound so generic to me, if I want to sound like every one else I'ld use one , I went to a jam, 7 guitar players a fun night 6 of the stepped into the light for a 4 bar lead , all sounded the same the 7th guy was me I used a zoom 707 stood right out in the crowd totally different sound.

the BD2 and the TS9 are part of my studio furnature if any one needs one but they are my last resort for tone and individuality

having said this both pedals do what they do ,and do it well!

The stock option on the waza is exactly the same as a stock.

OD-3 and BD-2 sound very different to me. Can't go wrong with a Timmy....

Also: try Xotic BB or Digitech Valve Distortion...
