Admin Post There was thread that was started last night, after most of the moderators had gone to bed. It was about a subject that has been extremely difficult for the past week on the moderators and members alike. We've been working to keep the forums open and free of division and hate. Moderators received many private messages this week, some supporting our efforts, others questioning our actions, and even some flat out judging our hearts. Oh well, it goes with the job. But the thread I'm talking about went on for five pages, because like I said, there's usually not a whole lot of action on the TDPRI in the wee hours of the night, and most of the moderators are asleep or at work. Had that thread been started at 10am, rather than 10pm, it would have been shut down within a few minutes... and we would have received a whole new batch of moderator mail... But here's what happened... In those five pages battle lines were drawn. Some of the participants were very hateful. Other participants responded to that hate with more hate. It got really ugly. The thread was removed, of course. In addition to the rules, at the bottom of every-single-page on the forum there is this quote: Whether you think the topic in question was political in nature or not is irrelevant for the purposes of the TDPRI. The fact has now been proven that it cannot be discussed without hate becoming part of the discussion. Your moderators already knew this, but we got questioned about it all week, with many people telling us that the TDPRI is the place this topic should be discussed. So there it is. We all wish it wasn't this way, but it just is.
