Not the first time a guitar has come off my strap but I was able to catch it the previous 300 times. With wine glass in one hand and bottle in the other this baby hit the ground hard about 20 min ago. Was in mint condition before this. Got two big dings. This is the larger of the two.
Emotions: I yelled as it dropped, I picked it up and was aghast at what I saw, I was sad and pissed and then felt like oh well, what can I do. I can’t or won’t fix it, I’m not gonna cry, it doesn’t change the tone, my wife told me it adds character. Hard to argue but unfortunately I don’t really care about character. So oh well. It sucks, things could be worse. Music Man Axis SS

Aww no... Strap locks go on as soon as I get a new to me guitar. I like Schallers but any strap locks are better than no str... nm.

You had the bottle in one hand, the glass in another hand, and the guitar in.. Wait, one, two, uh, never mind.

Sorry for your mishap, but I’m reminded of a lyric...

Woke up this morning with a wine glass in my hand”

I don't own a nitro-finished tele. Two of mine have dings. I can't imagine ever wearing through a poly finish like the "road worn" Teles. The "wear" on all my poly-coated Teles have been chips, not gradual wear.

Dropped a guitar once in the last 15 years. Added strap locks to every guitar since as soon as it came home. No drops, 23 immaculate guitars.

    That’s a little more than a ding.
It’s a shame, but it could be fixed if you ever change your mind.

I actually wore a few spots through the poly on my first guitar. Nice and even no chips.

I saw a new version of Music Man guitar today, only 2500.00 usd they look nice. Maybe a good excuse for another guitar in your collection?

"but I was able to catch it the previous 300 times."

I would think after perhaps the 250th time a person might begin to consider strap locks.

How long did that take you! I don't doubt it can be done, just know that the finishes on my two tele's don't have a lot of even wear - it's all chipped finished. Of course, there's a difference between wear and bangs, too...

I may be exaggerating on the number but I fortunately was able to catch it every time. Usually it’s when I stand up and the strap flips upside down and I don’t notice just like tonight. We were sitting down having a glass of wine. My wife asked me to get the bottle from across the room. I got up to get it but decided to grab my guitar as well while I was up. Put my guitar on, went to sit down, realized I forgot the bottle, got up, got the bottle, started to walk back and boom! My fault, I’m an idiot, I deserve all the crap so lay it on me guys. I’m going to bed now. It sucks. Absolutely totally sucks. But it could be worse. I’ll live with it and always remember. But to answer the strap lock questions, remember I’ve already told you I’m an idiot, I’ve never thought about them. I will now! I will look tomorrow. I even bought the larger PRS strap buttons to swap on this MM with the hopes of holding the strap on better. Thanks for the strap lock suggestions, I’m on it and the grief, I deserve it. The size probably does disqualify it to be a ding. The other one is more of a ding size. Good night all, stay safe out there and wash your hands.

    Sorry to hear that!

Unbolt the neck, strip the body, then dump the basswood body and order one in Swamp Ash, Mahogany, Alder, or Korina from Warmoth. I believe they have that shape, or something very, very close.

They’ll finish it if you want, or if you can paint, you could order an unfinished body and paint it up with a nice Jamaican theme.

Strap locks (Schaller) on all of my guitars and everyone has its own strap. No mixing or matching

haven’t dropped s guitar since the early ‘70s.
