when i bought my mim jag, it was candy apple red or sunburst. i hate candy apple red. i was really annoyed when the squiers came out a few years later in colors i actually wanted for like half the price.

Sell your CAR Jag and buy a Squier Jag or Jazzmaster in a color you love? Or... refin?

    Life's short... don't settle.

And the new American Special is "Out for Delivery" - shipped from
    Zzounds on their free
    Two day shipping!
Even though I have no idea what
Color it is I'm sure I'll love it either way. ;)

Going to enjoy putting the old Squire
Out to pasture - never did
    Like that Guitar...
Didn't figure I'd like the included gig bag, so I ordered a nicer FE620 from Fender.

On this guitar I would go surf pearl. I had a surf pearl Strat for awhile and I was always disappointed that I sold it.

Oh for that choice! Being a lefty, my world is black, white and sunburst. That's if they make a lefty in that model. Sorry for being a dribbler (go for the gold, baby!).

So my birthday isn't for a few more days...
Usually I'd wait until then to open the gift, but...
    Really? Really?
Fortunately - Mrs. Ducerro is very understanding...

Perhaps she'd grown tired of the begging...
    Every 15 minutes!
All in good fun she says...
    Really? Really?
Love her, but the wait was killing me... :D

Looks like a great guitar at a great price for a Fender USA. The gold looks a bit garish imo so I’d go for the surf.

I normally have nothing against pastel colours, but that surf green reminds me of the colour my mom used when she painted our kitchen cabinets in 1968. Didn’t look good in the kitchen, either.

Someone else might have more positive associations with that colour, but I wouldn’t rock it in a million years...

I recently purchased a 2018 Fender "Limited Edition" American Special Telecaster in Autumn Blaze Metallic. The "Limited Edition" designation is for the custom color. I also like the big frets. So, normally I would have kept the guitar 100% original. I didn't care for the traditional tuning machines or the (3) brass barrel bridge. I replaced the tuners with really nicely staggered "Hipshot" locking tuners. They were a direct fit. Then I installed a "Hipshot" stainless steel bridge with individual string saddles. This is a great choice as I have used the Kluson/Gotoh replacement bridges with the (6) plated brass block saddles. Although those work great to me they change the tone of the Tele too much. The "Hipshot" is lighter in weight and falls nicely between the original bridge and the heavier Kluson/Gotoh bridge closer to the original. I also didn't like the plain neck plate so I found one that says "Fender" "Limited Edition" which is exactly what this Tele is. Now my inexpensive Fender USA Telecaster plays, sounds, and looks expensive. Just swapping out the tuners, bridge and neck plate gives the Tele much better performance and a nice visual touch as well. Plus as I am getting older and playing out very little anymore. I have downsized my gear considerably. My Tele is my only Fender Instrument so it had to be made to the way I wanted it as I plan on keeping it forever. upload_2019-8-22_13-50-53.jpeg

If you haven't figured it out by now the new Telecaster is.....

    Aztec Gold

…and I'm loving it. Out of the box the darn thing was in tune! Started playing it last Friday and it's STILL in tune - although I'll probably check it again tonight. The action is excellent and it plays great. Neck is smooth and my hands slide effortlessly. Frets are jumbo - and I was a bit concerned there, but I like them - I like them a lot as a matter of fact. The fret work is excellent too - as one would expect on a MIA. Most of my other guitars have medium jumbo frets so I was pretty sure the straight jumbos would be fine, but little things like that can make a big difference. I tried playing a strat once with tall narrow frets and hated it - even though the guitar itself was beautiful it went back on the shelf.

The guitar was purchased from Zzounds online and it arrived double boxed and well packed. I was a bit worried at first as the original Fender box was open on one end, but the guitar was in perfect condition once removed. Not a flaw anywhere I can see and as I said earlier it seems to be setup VERY well. Not sure if they opened the box to check it before shipping or what, but it's perfect as is so there are no complaints on my end.

The color is less bold/brassy than I thought it might be. To be honest it kinda looks like Butterscotch - only flashy! I like it and I'm glad this is the color we went with. The Surf Green would likely have been a good choice as well, but I think I might have regretted that color down the road. The white pickguard is actually - dare I say it - growing on me, so it may get left alone for now. I'm even considering ordering a new white pickguard from Fender so I can swap the original out and keep the stickers intact.

Oh - I was right about the gig bag. The one in the photos above is NOT the one that comes with the guitar. I like the one I bought MUCH better...

If I was in your shoes I'd travel the Aztec roads and try to hack myself a rosewood neck (preferrably one that's not a too dark).

Edit: Oh You did it! Congratulation - the guitar looks super nice (with a lot of boosting potential :))
