Well, I gave it a go on the acoustic, and got 74 cents, a bus token and an old lady's phone number.
I was going to say I think sunflowers prefer acoustic or a poetry recital.
If that pic of Bakersfield is legit I used to live in a town very similar to it in the 70's.
Here's a pic of the main tourist attraction in the town centre. Must have been taken in winter as it looks greener than usual. It was a much more social place to live than in the city.
If you’re wonderin’ about your affinity for a little ol’ plant, it could be your Alabama gettin’ out.
When I did my genealogy thing and found that I came from a long line of dirt farmers in the South, it all made sense that I have overpowering urges to grow stuff that I can eat. In addition to the veggies, every time I thought about planting a bush or tree over the last 30 years there was a criteria that I could get something to eat in the deal. Well, most of the times - my wife doesn’t share the obsession.
So, it might be in your blood
Bakersfield! I guess I wasn't reading for comprehension, but it's never too late to start.
I went right to Spanish Harlem with that.
It really says a lot about you and your wife that you would even contemplate taking care of the Sunflower. Me, I spent the morning with a chainsaw taking down elm trees in the back yard. Damn weeds won't stay kilt.
Ahhh, Ya still got it!
bet you never mentioned the pocket fluff and the used dinner mint I left?
thats gratitude for you!
and my sister just turned 80. and you hurt her fellings (LOL)
I salute you TD, friend of Sunflowers....
Every year they plant 200 acres of sunflowers around the Ford WHQ in Dearborn .
I used to like it because it’s so vast and there’s so many of them and it’s a treat for your eyes.
Now, after our 5 year old Escape completely crapped out, I just keep thinking , right beyond those thousands and thousands of flowers, some asshat in some boardroom at some point remarked,
“You know CJ, turns out that 1.6L Ecoboost engine is a real piece of crap - a lot of premature failures with that one...”
“Oh yeah ? Tell me something I don’t know !”
I now prefer your scrappy little dirt lot flower TD ...
Oh, it is legit. TD even noticed the view point. Check out the caption.
The place I lived looked like that a few years after everyone had moved on and the transportable houses had been removed. They didn't drill for oil or mine there it was a Air force town populated mostly by military weapons air and space testing employees.
Are they drilling for sunflower oil?
The local golf course.
If you owned a portion of that oil field you could pass out new teles to everyone just for fun!
We don't know, but TD just might have an oil drilling rig in his backyard. Oh wait, doesn't everyone in Bakersfield have one? TD might be playing golf for way more years than we can imagine, so don't let this little sunflower story get too sappy.
You can take the share cropper out of the farm but you can't take farmer out of the share cropper.
I don't know what came over me. I did watch an old Huell Howser rerun the other day.
I've been putting out Sunflower seeds for the wild birds for years....the hulls are inches thick on the ground...they get a bit messy, I'm sure a lot of seeds hit the ground...
I'm yet to see one of these seeds grow into a sunflower plant.....
maybe I should start shopping for proper viable sunflower seeds for the birds.....
only weeds grow..
You know its just like windshield wipers on a duck's butt it just ain't supposed to be there.
Your honor I don't just make this stuff up!
I thought totosdad was putting us on so I looked up that panorama drive he mentioned and sure enough that’s where the wealthy folks live and I guess all those pump jacks are the view you get at the end of the street? Development?
Crazy I guess those folks have investments in that oil field themselves.
Had no idea there was that much oil in Bakersfield, when did that industry pop up there?
