He's wrong about the Strat - I'd bet that he owns one himself; faker.
I don't like rules but I have to agree with most of them.
I did a gig with a bass player who was, at the time, wearing crocs.
Okay, tele salivas. Where in the world do people find or hear about stuff like that? Very weird... but I couldn't turn away from it...
check their other vids, they're just as strange and weird. wow!
I read they are from South Africa.
How about somebody making guitar faces while playing a strat is that against the rules also? If so somebody should tell this dude that what he's been doing all his career aint cool. But on the upside, he's not using a Fender strap.
I need to change the guitar in my sig photo to a strat.
That's not how "Baby's On Fire" goes. If Eno were dead, he'd be rolling in his grave.
The funniest part of the article were the comments.
The thought that so many folks took this as a serious "How To", over the humor intended is hilarious
If this was Eno -- he doesn't care
Laugh or not, tongue in cheek or hanging out;
these conventions must be followed in the interest of being cool.
Aside from the arguing with the sound person from the stage bit, this sort of political correctness sucks in general.
Music listeners want a break from proper societal conventions (maybe I'm just naive and idealistic). OK, actually I live in a cave.
Being right becomes just wrong if you have to make a case for it...
What's more pitiful; shirtlessness, being offended by shirtlessness, or writing about shirtlessness?
Hank J Byron needs to do some time in Alcatrazz.
Blasphemers rot in your abandoned prisons!
Drummers, keep your mouths shut and your sh¦t tight!
Here's me breaking at least rules 1,2,3 and 10; but it was 40c in the shade:
Here are my 10 rules that you should read before ever playing in public.
1. Do whatever works for you.
2 - 10. See rule one.
yolandi and ninja are mad cool
here is a short film they did, even if you dont like their music they are creative. I like their music too though, her flow is tight, and they are unique
i dare you to watch this and not laugh and be touched
warning : lots of cursing!
Then it's Tele's and Les Pauls. Hardly ever see them.
Bet he doesn't even play guitar.
What, no cargo shorts?! I'm bummed.
Explain the joke, then.
Criticism is still criticism even if it's written in a sarcastic, "taking the mickey" style. If that's what he's doing, then he really is criticising everything he's mentioned, in which case, he needs to get over himself.
If he's not actually sarcastically criticising all those things, then maybe he's throwing it back at people who truly believe those things. But that's not very clear.
Either way, he just seems like another internet rantboy trying to be clever.
I was entertained by the article & am in no way a strat fan, although the '51 I own does have the tele neck, but someone please explain to this man how uncool he is.
I heard about them in an English music mag, I believe. And then I saw them on Letterman....
While not all of us have the cash to look as cool as we'd like to think we are, we can make it work if you put a little thought into it. Just a little. I really don't like it when bands go up there and they look like they are going to a barbecue at the lake. But you can't change other people, all you can change is yourself.
Surfoverb, I hadn't seen that film. Fantastic! Gummo South Afrikaans style.
