    Who wants to know?
After going round & round for the past few years between thinking I needed a Strat but always wanting a Tele I finally found something that I couldn't say no to. It's a MIM Deluxe Tele Thinline - sorta.

It's a 2019 and it's pretty much brand new but it's got some mods. When I compare it to the Fender site I notice that the tuners are CLASSICGEAR TUNING MACHINES instead of locking tuners. Obviously he changed out the pickguard - an improvement IMO. Under the hood, there are CTS pots, a "mustard" cap with Sozo written on it [see pic], a 3-way selector switch instead of the 4-way and what he described as Fender Original Vintage Tele Pickups. All in all I'd say that the choices that were made turned out just fine. The tuners threw me for a loop though as I'd never seen this CLASSICGEAR version before. Anyway, here are some pics:

It sounds & plays as good as it looks and, considering the price I couldn't be happier. Cheers!

I've been modding the heck out of my own MIM Deluxe thinline.

Thanks for the heads up on those new(ish) fender tuners, I think I'm going to switch out my locking tuners.

I was hoping I would like the look of these tuning machines. I don't. The back, with no fasteners, looks weird, and the front side of the headstock is a clunky mess. I don't want anything to do with these, not even as replacement for the dreaded "trapezoidal F" die cast slotted machines with the metal covers.

Anyway, the pickguard swap looks great. And I almost understand a 3 way with the Original Vintage pickups (as they are not RWRP). I did a fair number of OV equipped Teles with the 4 way and I sure wish it was noise canceling in positions 2 + 4. Haven't done any more of them lately, because of this factor.

PS. I had those Classic Gear tuners on a Tele Performer and hated them.

I luv pearl white pickguards and have them on almost all of my Fenders.

Looks really well. I’d say most of the changes are definite improvements, especially the tuners.
    Enjoy it.
