Despite my commitment of "no more" I just couldn't resist. I've been slowly transforming my favorite parts Tele into a 1966-ish Blonde/Rosewood. But the Allparts TRO-22 neck just doesn't cut it. It'll likely go back onto another partscaster where it worked great. I recently installed the era appropriate threaded saddles and the pickguard with the trussrod notch (which the current 22 fret neck covers, lol). Also bought a bridge plate with the straight Fender logo.

I have no particular affinity for 66 Teles, but I'd like to see this one through, particularly to try out the lam rosewood board and get back to a 7.25" radius.

Then I'm done, I swear. 🙄

Allparts has some interesting fret profile descriptions. The TRO-62 is defined as having "tall" frets, spec'd at .079"x.053". My Allparts TMO-V is spec'd as "vintage frets" at .079"x.043". Compared to vintage 6230's which are .080"x.037", and 6105's which are .095"x.047". All have been outstanding necks after a level and crowning, so no worries here. Obviously they have their own thing going in manufacturing.

"tall frets" tells ya nothing other than someone thought those frets were higher than others.... big whoopee doo.. What happens if someone else had been using something around .085 x .055?? Then the frets would seem Low to them.... Now .079 x .043 DOES tell ya something.. so don't use ambiguous specs, yes the actual metrics..

Yep, I like the fact that the Allparts necks I've seen advertised (and bought) always seem to advertise specifics on fret AND neck dimensions. The oddity being that their wire specs don't seem to conform to the more familiar 6230/6105/6150 etc. we commonly see. The seller I bought this neck from had the frets advertised as .079 x .043, where Allparts had it at .079 x .053. When I messaged to find out if this was perhaps a special run they acknowledged it was a mistake and corrected it.

Anyway, neck arrived yesterday and it's yet another beut. Looking forward to getting it setup.

I'll be interested in your opinion on the TRO-62.
IMO the construction is far from a "lam" or "veneer" and just a 1/4" curved rosewood.
I've no experience with comparing the TRO-62 to what was offered as a lam rosewood board back in the day. My main reason for selecting this neck was to have a 21 fret rosewood board with a 7.25" radius, but that has been my observation as well. The thickness of the "lam" doesn't appear to be very different than the other Allparts necks that I have with a 10" and 12" radius.

Ha ha - - it's always good when one's suspicions are affirmed by @Ronkirn. "My jumbo stainless frets on this guitar look a lot like the medium-jumbos on that one. What gives?"

Agreed on the "interesting fret profiles" - tried unsuccessfully to discover whose fretwire Allparts uses on their necks that quote 0.079" x 0.055" for example:

vintage width with a jumbo size height in the crown - closest I could find is Jescar 55090, but still not quite the same

Anyone know what Allparts uses for these necks?
