Sponges are so dangerous! I won’t touch them. They’re so spongy, and apparently can break glass.

I did the same thing with the same kind of knife when I was around 12! Huge scar on my index finger. It really sucks. I'm sorry to hear that brother. Hope you recover quick!

EVH was asked, if you had to lose one finger which one
    would it be?
    No hesitation, right hand pinkie.

What?! What about all those elves and dwarves running around the country side armed to the teeth with swords and what not? Not to mention the orcs and goblins that populate the British Isle as I'm led to believe....

    :D

I carry a 3.5" locker (Benchmade Crooked River) and a locking Leatherman Free P4.

Use them both every day. I'd never carry a non locking blade for the above reasons.

What a shame the UK has seen fit to proclaim you don't need it....

Can you carry a fixed blade? Arizona has no limit on fixed length. At some point it becomes a sword I suppose....

    .

I did that with a couple of different old style spring-back folding knives when I was a kid.
Then I found the Buck lock-back style.
Now I have several styles of locking blades. I tend to prefer the chunky rugged blade styles that can substitute for a pry-bar rather than the thin fragile blades that snap off at the easiest non-cutting application.

Warning.... there is KAS and they can run as much as MIA Fender/Gibson guitars if want to spend. Or you can find pretty good utility locking knives at Walmart for $10.

This is a great overview of the history and types you can find now.

I don't understand the "stupid" and bad energy in some of these posts. Let he who has never accidentally cut themselves cast the first stone.

I hope it isn't serious. Heal up well and good luck OP.

I always carry a Victorinox knife myself because I frequently use some of the other gadgets but I would like a locking feature on the blade.

Don’t feel bad, I got a nasty paper cut from a box the other day. The look my boss gave me made me feel stupid. At least you had an actual knife wound you :(

    Thank you so much everyone.

no stitches no steristrip. Just dressings for a few days.

I do have a locking blade. But it’s the big Victorinox. So not great for carrying round or little jobs. But. Advice noted and appreciated. I might look for one (I rarely use the blade. Mostly the screwdriver. Pliers. Scissors. Etc)

Just remember that scars are like tattoos but with way better stories. Wear your scars with pride. ;-)

If not cutting your finger, it will take your eye out. No questions asked.

What you need is lizard DNA. If ever you cut off your tail, it'll grow back.

Any blade 3" or over is illegal here, and fixed below that are more-or-less illegal. The law requires a context that justifies carrying anything. That's why the orcs and goblins have the advantage over us humans :)
